So from piecing together the scenes in all the trailers I am guessing the story line in this movie is non-linear and focusing on Nero/Old Spock with vignettes for lack of a better term, in the time of the rebooted Star Trek.
I am thinking this because the one constant is Nero-
Nero blasting the USS Kelvin with in-utero/baby Jim Kirk
Nero blasting Vulcan with cadet graduate Jim Kirk on the Enterprise
Nero blasting Earth at some other time frame with female cadet looking on
I am thinking, but not hoping, that the story is starting to resemble that VOY episode with the (Year of Hell?) timeship that keeps making incursions to change history but keeps not quite getting it.
I am also guessing that the reason Nero attacks Vulcan is based on revenge for the storyline in the comic prequels of Vulcan not wanting to help Romulus and Mrs. Nero and child get killed, along with Romulus not for revenge on Spock.
