STO games you've owned

Jetboogieman

Commander
Red Shirt
Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force.

My Favourite ST game of all time. When I was a young kid in South Africa, I got this game as a gift, and it is what made me a Star Trek Fan, it was the first taste of Star Trek I ever got. A solid FPS, Fun, Fast Paced, simple. The expansion pack with explore voyager was a really fantastic expansion and well worth the money. Fantastic game.

Star Trek Armada

One of my favourite RTS's of all time, not terribly well reviewed outside of Star Trek fans but I found it to be pretty solid, fun and fast paced.

Star Trek Armada 2

Out does its predecessor in almost every way, the addition of new races, more options and more classes made this one of my favourite RTS games. The single player was a bit lacklustre for me, but the Skirmish mode, even with its bugs never ceased to be fun. I still own an original copy.

Star Trek Bridge Commander

Single player was a bit lacklustre but Skirmish mode more then made up for it, a tad bit too complex and unituitive this game still shines for overall atmosphere, immersion and a nice trip on the captains chair into Trekdom.

Star Trek Away Team

Not one of my favourite Star Trek Games, a below par Squad based strategy game I could have done without.

Star Trek Elite Force 2

In no way superior to its predecessor, and not one I still own, still a solid FPS, but to me, nothing memorable.

Star Trek Legacy

Really repetitive first player reminscent of blowing squadron after squadron out of the sky on Ace Combat, this fast paced arcade style star trek game was a welcomed distraction, enjoyed the graphics, the simple gameplay, skirmish mode and multiplayer gave a few hours of fun before burning out.

Star Trek Starship Creator 2

lol. That is all.

Star Trek Invasion.

Awful, just awful.

Star Trek Online

Okay. I see there's a few of you that play STO. I got it the day it came out, but I will say this, if there's one developer that I hate with a passion, that drives me absolutely insane... its cryptic. Wonderful character creation, and the amazing customization not only for your character, but your starship really was a shining part of the game... and then you played the rest of it.

The space combat was beautifully designed, generally simplistic (Which is a plus and a negative in this case) and easy to use. It was solid enough that I thoroughly enjoyed it for awhile, but a bit too repetitive for my liking and that leads me to my next point.

Repetition! Now as a 4 year veteran of LOTRO, and a seasoned fighter in Rift, DCUniverse Online, WoW, SWG and various others we all know that the very point of MMO's is repetition, its part and parcel and you accept it... HOWEVER.

The repetition of STO is just mind numbingly over the top, the biggest weakness of STO was any time you had to go on foot and engage any enemy, I must have missed the episode of Star Trek where a single deck of a ship was invaded by half the klingon empire, I mean was it really nessecary to put 7000 borg in my way so I can just pull a lever, this was a huge weakness in STO and a weakness in Cryptic games in general, I had just come off Champions online recently, mob reaction to your presence in cryptic games is a JOKE!

The other glaring problem with STO was the amount of time some missions took to complete vs. the rewards, not worth it at all.

All in all, it was a beautiful looking game, but failed to hit the mark for me, I played it for a few weeks, got to Commander 1 and gave up, it just wasnt worth it.

So list yours :)

Star Trek: the Next Generation
Some old gameboy game I used to play. I can't remember how far I advanced, but it was fun traveling to different places and blowing up random ships in between missions of "try to catch the running dude with a transporter beam!".

Star Trek Hidden Evil
One of the first computer games I ever played, and my only adventure. I think I stopped playing once I found myself on a Romulan ship. While I enjoyed it back then, I realized now -- after playing many other computer games -- it had serious problems.

Star Trek Elite Force:
My first FPS. Scared the HELL out of me as a kid when I shot a Borg, ran to hide, and then peeked around the corner to see a bunch of drones shambling toward me. I remember many fond hours playing CTF all night long while people talked about the latest Voyager episode. I still play versus bots sometimes.

Star Trek Armada:
One of my first and favorite RTS. I never played much of the single-player modes, preferring to battle online. A few friends of mine from the gaming clan StarFleet liked playing 'yardwar' and 'shipwar' maps where we began with one ship or a shipyard and battled from there. One of those ship war maps had all the "hero" ships (Picard's Enterprise, Locutus's Cube, Martok's Negh'Var) on it. I still remember some glorious victories -- luring Locutus' Cube into the mutara nebula, where my waiting allies destroyed it...uncloaking RIGHT BEHIND the time-ship Prometheus, then firing my ion cannon at it. He used the time-freeze weapon on me, but my buddy came out of hiding and finished him off. :D

Star Trek Armada 2:
Meh. While I liked the increased ship variety, it seemed as though the old balance was thrown off. There seemed to be no way to take down starbases EXCEPT with artillery ships, while a fleet of eight to twelve capital ships could have handled it in the original. The voice acting was inferior to the original game, especially in regards to the Klingons and Borg.

Star Trek Away Team
One of my very favorite games. I've never beaten the last level on Vulcan, but I used to write stories about the crew of the Incursion. The tenth level remains my favorite in terms of difficulty.

Star Trek Bridge Commander
One of those games I was very excited about, but never really played. I disliked it because of the lack of savepoints, so I stopped trying the single-player. I played a few battles against bots but I didn't really know what I was doing...

I own Elite Force 2, but when I bought it my computer couldn't run it so I put it aside. Now I can't find the second disk, and I can't replace it because the game is so expensive.

Star Trek: Dominion Wars- I fell in love with cover art and then read a short description. My first Star Trek game. I loved it at the time but hated the constant game crashs.

Star Trek: Elite Force- I have always like "realistic" first person shooters but then I heard about a Voyager FPS, I was so excited to get this game! It didn't disappoint either and I still consider Elite Force one of my all time favorite games I have ever played. Also the mods for this games make come back for more.

Star Trek: Bridge Commander- I didn't hear about this game until a few years after it came out. My brother found a demo and we played it. Couldn't get enough it and bought a copy as soon as we could. I absolutely loved the campaign mode. I feel it has a much better story then any Star Trek show that came out after. Felt like an episode of Star Trek and I loved flying around big starships. The Quickbattle mode is what keeps me playing nowadays. Mods for this game are just amazing. There are many ships, bridges, space arenas, and so many other great changes made to this game. My username comes from a character in this game too.

Star Trek: Elite Force II- Another good FPS and good storyline. I wished the Romulans were the main bad guys instead of monsters(exomorphs) and the "Empty Crown". I don't like "Nemesis" and luckly it didn't make any strong reference to that movie.

I have seen my brother play some other games like Away Team, Armada I, and II. They don't have game play I even would care about and their storylines are even less interesting(can't even be possible to fit them into canon storyline).

ST: 25th Anniversary. Still have all 7 3.5" floppies. Really good game. The adventure part was fun (I'm pretty sure there was a way to get the red shirt killed in every level) and the space combat was awesome.

Star Trek: the Next Generation. Had it on game gear. Scratch that, have it on Game Gear, but both the handheld and the cartridge are sitting in my parent's basement. Got up to "Captain" (password was Brahms, as in Leah) but never had enough time in one sitting to beat it.

Starfleet Academy. Top notch combat. In fact, I haven't seen anyone do it better. All shields and systems were implemented. The baddies could even blow off your warp nacelles and warp drive would be permanently offline. Plus, you had honest-to-god Shatner-as-Kirk in live action cut scenes. I wish more games had low-budget video cutscreens with real actors these days, like the C&C series had James Earl Jones.

ST Legacy: The campaign was meh, but the combat was okay. With the Ultimate Universe mod, it was an excellent way to spend an hour blowing up Romulans by the swarm.

STO: I've got a lifetime sub. Combat is a bit better than ST Legacy. Missions are repetitive, but they're getting better at it. Apparently Steam says I've spent almost 1100 hours playing it since it came out last year. Though, I'm pretty sure that includes the amount of time it was technically logged out. I would alt-tab STO and browse or do work. The game would log me off the network, but the app was still running, which is what Steam counts.

Star Trek: Judgement Rites - Had it my old and was my first full Trek game. Before that I'd played a game based on TNG where you flew around the Ent-D (top down) and a Borg cube would show up and you had to stop it before it got to Earth. Anyway, back on JR I don't remember much of it, I know I didn't finish it.

Star Trek: Armada: Decent enough RTS.

Star Trek: Armada II: Again decent enough. The changes didn't really make much of a different in terms of improvements.

Star Trek: Hidden Frontier: I don't remember anything about this at all.

Star Trek: Elite Force: Fun little shooter.

Star Trek: Elite Force 2: Fun little shooter. I've got more replay out of this than any other Trek game I've owned.

Star Trek: Away Team: Slow and a bit boring.

Star Trek: Bridge Commander: Some of the ugliest ships ever put together in terms of the hybrid designs. It was okay but lacked something that I can't remember but means I won't play it again.

Star Trek: Starfleet Command 3: Can't really remember it enough to say what I thought of it.

Star Trek: Dominion Wars: Buggy as hell. It promised so much but didn't offer much.

Star Trek: Starship Creator: I expect more from it and found it disappointing.

Star Trek: Birth of the Federation: Probably my favourite game. Wish Stardock would made a sequel.

Star Trek Online: Only played the first month. Got to Vice Admiral and stopped several days before my time expired. I found it disappointing. It was so repetitive and it apparently had a story, but I have no idea what it was as I didn't bother reading the dialogue after the first two or three missions.

Oh yeah, I forgot Birth of the Federation. That game was cool back in the day. Only if they could make a Civ IV or V version and with more Star Trek elements then before.

Star Trek: 25th Anniversary - loved it

Star Trek: Judgement Rites - surprisingly meh

Star Trek: A Final Unity - loved it

Star Trek: Hidden Evil - didn't really like it

Star Trek Online - don't like it

Ok, I had to use memory Beta to list all the games I've played/owned, because I knew I'd miss one out. :)

*EDIT* 19 Games in total - sheesh I never realised I had so many!

Future's Past: My first trek game and I couldn't get enough of it

A Final Unity: Like Futures Past I couldn't stop playing this.

Klingon: Didn't enjoy this much at all. I think it was mainly because I'm not a great Klingon fan

Harbinger: Don't remember much about this.

Borg: Excellent game. Good story, really emersive and lots of fun.

Starfleet Academy (plus Chekov's Lost Missions): A good game, although i didn't play it for that long.

Starship Creator (Original, Deluxe & V2): That I bought all three versions shows how much I enjoyed this. :)

Birth of the Federation: Still play this now from time to time One of the best Trek games ever.

Elite Force: Lots of fun and my first foray into online gaming. A good storyline too.

Invasion: Found the control a bit hard to master and didn't play for long.

The Fallen: Own, but not sure I played.

Armada: Excellent game. Really enjoyed it.

Dominion Wars: Another game I really enjoyed. Didn't encounter the same problems that others did.

Away Team: Didn't play much.

Armada II: As good, if not better than the original.

Star Fleet Command III: Bought on discount and not really played

Elite Force II: Even better than the orignal Elite Force and it was on the E-E.

Legacy: Bought on discount and not really played

Star Trek Online: Really developing into the best Trek game I've ever played, thanks to the player community being listened to by the developers.

Here's one I missed that's just been mentioned:

The Fallen: Enjoyed it. Graphics weren't great, but I thought it had a very good story and fitted in well with the DS9 mythos. This makes me want to find it and see if it will run on my computer...

I forgot that one, too. I could never get far in it, though. I remember trying to get Kira out of a monastery.

I remember having issues with it as well, plus Kira's first section crashed a lot on my computer. Thought it was good that you could play as Sisko, Kira or Worf.

Is there any way to actually GET these games legally anymore? I'd like to get into playing some of these, but they're pretty much impossible to find short of torrenting them or being ripped off by eBay.

Has anyone petitioned Good Old Games into rereleasing some of these games reworked for Windows 7? I imagine it'd be a profitable venture for them to do so, and given the number of hacks people have to do anymore to get some of these to run, the community would certainly appreciate it.

Forgot about that one too.

It was promising, but I didn't get too far.

Star Trek Armada
One of the very few RTS games I have ever liked because its simple to get into and has a great story mode. Needed more ships like the sequel but had many hours of fun with the original.

Star Trek Armada II
Didn't like it went too far with the changes and apart from more ships and better graphics felt the first game was better.

Star Trek Elite Force
First ever FPS ST game I played and loved it though pity multiplayer never caught on. Good story and plenty of action, was a perfect franchise to get ST more notice in gaming.

Star Trek Elite Force II
Loved it, maybe a little more than the original and especially the early level set on the adrift and powerless federation ship very spooky. We need a new Elite Force game soon IMO.

Star Trek Dominion Wars
Great concept and could be alot of fun at times BUT far too many bugs/crashes ruined the game + online never worked. The game was released several months early no doubt if not by a full year and did massive harm to the ST gaming brand.

Star Trek Invasion
Can't remember too much from this PS1 game but was alright.

Star Trek Bridge Commander
Maybe the best ST game to date and its a real mystery why another game like this was never attempted. It might of been better with a little less combat and more open freedom but still what a dream to sit in the chair. Especially with Kinect they could make a great sequel.

Star Trek Legacy
AWFUL COMBAT, AWFUL GAME

Star Trek Online
Great graphics for an MMO and the combat with ships can be fun especially big battles BUT rushed to release with not enough content and the game focuses too much on combat and doesn't feel like an MMO at times.

Star Trek 25th Anniversary..for my old MAC..excellent game..(have the DOS CD but haven't got it to play on my Windows 7 PC)

Star Trek Judgement Rites..purchased again for my MAC and excellent gameplay...(have the DOS CD but haven't got it to play on my Windows 7 PC)

Star Trek TNG A Final Unity ..purchased for my old MAC and again excellent gameplay (Another game I've the DOS CD for but can't play on my more modern PC)

Star Trek TNG Klingon Honor Guard ..First PC FPS in my collection..good enough for the period, but not stellar

Star Trek Starfleet Command (the first one)..Best damn Star Trek based tactical Starship combat game released..my personal number 1 game.

Star Trek Voyager Elite Force...An excellent FPS with much online fun..just a bit short in the single player missions..

Star Trek Starfleet Command II, Empires At War..an excellent update of the original Starfleet Command..just a bit short in the storyline department a good time overall

Star Trek Voyager Elite Force Expansion Pack..as it says, an expansion to this popular game, with the expansion, one can mod the game almost anyway one can wish (I've got the Starbase 11 mod running..with the Virtual Dreadnought added for much TOS based fun)

Star Trek Starfleet Command Orion Pirates a "Stand Alone Expansion" to Starfleet Command, Empires At War --a LOT of ships easily modded but almost no storyline for the single player missions, however many missions can be found online.. as far as online play this is the best online Star Trek based tactical Starship Combat game released.

Star Trek Starfleet Command III.. A poor rendition of my personal favorite game series.. The game was "simplified from the complexity" of the prior series releases and became a buggy mess with too many bugs exploitable in online play..the starship models were lackluster and dull...not at all what I expected..my least liked of the series..

Star Trek Legacy...high hopes, but a buggy and poor port from the XBox platform..I sold my copy almost as soon as I bought it.
