Still Boldy Going... Again. :)

Well, I've been too busy to get any work at all done on the Excelsior the past couple of weeks, but I did manage a little while tonight to update an old wallpaper I built a few months ago.

The old one is here... http://madshipyard.com/images/Wallpaper/StillBoldy_Enterprise_HD.jpg

I built a while new planet for the scene, and moved everything around... I think the new image is a lot more balanced, and the Enterprise is more of a focus in the foreground than before.

What do you guys think?

It's very well done, but as a still image, it's a little too busy for me, especially on the righthand side with the space station and the moon. I'd say pick one or the other.

Or at least make the station and moon smaller to appear further away. Give the image a little "breathing room" on that side.

I love the planet, and the background... and I like the way the hint of off-camera lens flare breaks through into the image.

Thanks, guys. :)

I had some other guys say the same thing about the station and the moon... I tried various sizes, but I seemed to like these the best. I can see that it would open the image up a little more if they were both smaller, though. I'll keep that in mind for the next image. :)

I don't know, to me it has sort of a still-frame look, like its taken from a departing beauty shot or something.
Anyway I keep looking at that texture on the E...man that is nice. Since I could never get that look in PS, I guess I'm going to have to try to attempt to think about considering taking another shot at hoping to maybe learn Blender!!?! :)
(I'll probably learn spanish at work before that happens, on the other hand stranger things have happened)...

I understand about the strange things going on. :)

About the textures... They're all built in Photoshop to start with, of course. :) The saucer texture is just several layers of different types of paneling, each set in a different blending mode. You should be able to accomplish close to the same thing in a 2D image. :)

Yeah, it would take a good while though :)
The way you have the lighting, reflections, it just has a nice deep pealescent look.
