So, I had this idea of seeing how far "out there" I could push the basic "saucer-2 nacelles-engineering hull" formula. I was thinking also about how far out the deflector dish & housing on the J.J.Prise sticks out, and then I though, "OK, let's stick it out - WAY out! Out ahead of the saucer!"

This is what I came up with.

It is just a quick sketch, of course.

I'm thinking of REALLY pushing it by making the saucer massive and thin, and pushing the nacelles WAAAAAAAY back and making them seem even MORE fragile and spindly - I am trying to capture the sense that there must be some serious futuristic technology at work for something so stretched and spindly to function.

Ahh, the great experiment...

Interesting approach for making a massive ship that doesn't appear massive- like a cross between Ent-D and Dark Helmet's "We brake for nobody" cruiser...

Just don't make it too spindly, or they'll christen it the Lollipop. :vulcan: :rommie:

Reminds me of the Enterprise-J.

^Ditto. Of course, fill in some of the open space and it looks more like McQuarrie's version of the Enterprise.

Still working on it... trying to become more "fast and loose" to free up the design by sketching more.
