STEAM came out earlier this week to confirm the summer sale will happen in July but didn't tell us exactly when. So Who here will empty their wallets and what games are you hoping to get at a low price this July? Personally I am hoping to see deals for...

Dead Island
Metro 2033
Fallout: New Vegas GOTY
Medal of Honor
STALKER: Call of Pripyat
STALKER: Clear Sky
Half Life 2: Episode 2 (though its fairly cheap anyway)
Splinter Cell 1-4 Colletion sale pack be nice too.

Definitely me. I just recently acquired my first gaming-quality PC, and I'm excited to put her through her paces with lots of Bethesda action. It's a shame EA ran off with Mass Effect; I wouldn't mind re-purchasing all those for a sweet summer deal as well, but I already have them for 360.

^ The first two Mass Effects are still on Steam, EA didn't take them off. The did however make ME3 and Origin exclusive, which does suck.

As for the sale; I'll be keeping an eye on the price of Skyrim, Morrowind, Witcher 2...maybe the Dead Space games & Amalur if the price is right. I don't intent to splurge too much as I still haven't played some of the games I got in the Xmas sale yet.

Metro 2033 has been on sale pretty much every summer sale so I expect it to be on sale this time as well. Unfortunately, I can never get the stupid game to work.

^I picked up Metro 2033 in a Steam sale a few years back. It was part of the complete THQ pack which also contained *all* of the Dawn of War games & expansions, Red Faction 1-3, Saints Row 2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. SoC and a bunch of other crap I haven't bothered with. For £20, it was basically digital theft.

Never had a problem running Metro 2033 (though I never got very far playing it) but I'll be buggered if I can get GTA 3 or VC to work reliably.

Added the other two STALKER games (Clear Sky & Call of Pripyat) to my list since I never played them. I hear the last one is supposed to be the best ;)

Mass Effect 3 for modding purposes ... but oh wait, EA still has their own shitty client called Origin. :scream: I won't even touch that with a twenty foot pole even if they offered it for ME3 for free.

Anyhow, I'm itching to see if Skyrim, Kane\Lynch (both games), Dues Ex Human Revolution, the Walking Dead series, The Sims 3 expansion packs, and/or Civilization 5 DLC will be on sale. :D

I haven't played the Clear Sky, but Shadow Of Chernobyl and Call Of Pripyat are among my all time favorite games. CoP definitely has some improvements over SoC, like an ability to fix and modify your weapons and armor and artefact detectors. Just as SoC, it is pretty difficult in the beginning (you can meet hordes of dogs and several Bloodsuckers very near to the starting point, AFAIR).

Looking to get some old classics and a few indie titles just for something different:

Darwinia
Multiwinia
TES III: Morrowind GOTY
X-Com Complete Pack
Terraria
Fallout 1 & 2
Eversion
Orcs Must Die

Deus Ex: Invisible War as well, just because I've never played it. I doubt it's actually as bad as some say it is, but in case it is I'll wait until it's on sale.

Honestly Origin isn't so bad. Well, yeah it's bad, but no worse than 'Games for Windows'. It's something you have to use to play certain games but can safely ignore and switch off once you're done.

To their credit though, when I linked it to my BSN account it automatically added a copy of all the Dragon Age & Mass Effect games that I had registered there. Nice to know there's a backup source if anything ever goes wrong with my Steam account.

I've been debating with myself for ages if SoC is worth bothering with. It's a fairly hefty download and most of the reviews I found were decidedly mixed.

In and of itself it's an OK game. Decidedly average shooter with some token RPG mechanics. No major bugs or gameplay flaws that I recall. Perfectly serviceable. As a sequel to Deus Ex however, it's an unworthy bag of shite.

How much is it on there? They're selling it on GOG for $9.99.

It's the same on Steam, I'd just rather wait till it's on sale until I make pretty much a blind buy  I'm really stingy when it comes to games sometimes.

the MW3 DLC is half price (and they're giving money to a veterans charity) so i quickly bought both collections yesterday and today. (£5.49 for DLC 1 and £5.79 for DLC 2 is way better than 12 quid each!)

It's not bad at all. In fact, I like it better than DX1 (Human Revolution is better still, aside from the ending), because by the time the ending rolls around I can actually remember how I got there. The story is more interesting, because it isn't ripped page-for-page from an abovetopsecret.com manifesto. Plus, the Omar are awesome, in their weird bug ways.

I would recommend the HD texture pack floating around, the original weren't particularly good even at the time (DX2 being one of the last big titles for the original X-Box).

Yeah, just bought Crusader Kings II but can't download it because Steam has been "scanning for licence updates" for half and hour. If it's taking this long just to verify the purchase, I dread how long it will take to download. :scream:

ETA: Wow, once I finally got past the verification process, it downloaded in 5 minutes.

Picked up Tropico 4 for 50% off. I'm going to catch up on Hell's Kitchen rather than try to download it right now.
