Well, the first game of the 2008 State of Origin has just finished with a NSW victory 18-10. So what were your thoughts on the game and the possibilities for the series?
NSW played a very good game tonight and deserved to be victors by more then 8 points. They played hard and defended hard and they really wanted it more then Qld did, which is not surprising after two series loss in a row. I was suspect with Wallance at half but he played well. The whole team played well, I thought Hoffman was hard done by not to get man of the match. Stewart was solid at the back, so if the Count returns he's going to find it hard to get back into this side.
Qld made some selection mistakes but I think every man and his dog has pointed that out over the last week. Scott Prince not being in the team was a surprise, one that I think all NSW supporters were happy with. Hunt didn't really offer anything in the role of 5/8th but he did defend well. But they were just hammered and shut down by a well coached team that stood up on the night, you can have all the stars in the world in your side but if your opposition plays as well as NSW did you're going to struggle to win.
Depending on injuries I really can't see the NSW team changing for the next game. Qld, the obvious change would be Prince in the side either on the field at 5/8th or warming the bench. The second game should be a corker if NSW plays as well as they did tonight and Qld get their selection right.
