I think this is one of the dumbest plot points ever. You just don't leave everything else unprotected for a parade.
Does every ship halfway through a rare spacial anomaly or once off planetary event have to pack up for the parade. At least in Picard they have insta warp in case anything goes wrong.
Hell yeah. I was hoping to see a galaxy class but since the Ross Class and Sutherland Class are now Canon that is looking more and more hopeless . Also if the Sutherland Class (originally from STO) is the Successor to the Nebula Class then its possible the Andromeda class (STO) could also be considered canon and successor to the Galaxy. I was thinking it would be awesome to see the Steamrunner, Norway, Saber, Nova or Prometheus class. If the Akira is still in service it's possible some of these other vessels are too. It seems wasteful for starfleet to decommission these ships only 20-30 years after the first ones were built... especially after the destruction of UP fleet yards & Synth attack. After all the Excelsior and Miranda survived for ~100 years. My head-canon sees the Akira as the Successor to the Miranda, ignoring her designation as a "Carrier".
Well its not a dumb plot point when you realise that the changelings have obviously orchestrated this so the whole fleet is in attendance for another terrorist attack. Why take out half the fleet when you can take it all out in one go. Why do you think Geordie tells everybody he's tried to overturn this monumentally stupid idea?
The Akira seemed to be more capable than a Miranda. I rather see the California as Ambassador-era successor to the Miranda.
Sure but it seems not credible to me that the Changelings could've achieved such a level of infiltration that they can override common sense.
Hmm yeah thats a good point. Since Ro said starfleet was already compromised it's possible their level of infiltration was so high that any opposition to the Frontier Day plans would easily be quashed. Again why Geordie had tried to change this decision 3 times with no success. And he is a decorated Flag Officer.
Can't have EVERY ship in the service there, Borders still need to be patrolled, etc. Maybe any free ship in the area, some choice ones, there are litterally Thousands of ships in the fleet!
I get that, I still don't think it's credible that even at the highest level you can give cleary insane orders. Maybe in a dictatorship but not in the Federation.
DATA: An uncustomary reshuffling of personnel, usually in the command areas. The new officers have had frequent contact with the highest levels of Starfleet Command. RIKER: Why hasn't anybody discovered this before? DATA: The orders were given with great subtlety. To use an aphorism, Starfleet's left hand did not know what its right hand was doing.
But in this case apparently everyone knows that the whole fleet is supposed to assemble for Frontier Day. What would happen if the President of the US and the Chief of Naval Operations pulled that stunt with the US Navy?
Assembling the entire fleet for Frontier Day sounds very odd for a Federation supposedly built on the ideals of peace and exploration.
Not sure why. They seem to be celebrating the Federation’s philosophy of peaceful exploration. However, if the Changelings are in charge of everything, it’s probably some kind of planned false-flag event designed to wipe out most of the fleet. A mixture of Pearl Harbor and Bay of Tonkin.
Except we’ve seen nothing like that, ever, on Starfleet vessels. Perhaps on Federation ships with NAR prefixes, but not Starfleet ships.
This is why the Enterprise was always the only ship in the sector. The entire fleet was always off celebrating Paddy's Day with the Bringlodi or Burns Night on sex candle planet.
Mention of the fleet being networked leads me to believe the Changelings have installed Baltar's Command Navigation Program.
