    No bloody A, B, C or D?

Still, that's a lot of Eleos', either in a row, or at the same time.

Well it is a civilian ship. They tend to use roman numerals.

Unless it's named for planet 'Eleos XII'. Did M. Drexler mention a ship class?

Why on earth is the hull rusting in that concept art?

Side effects of probably being planetfall-capable. A ship as small as that...?

Presumably the hull is tritanium or whatever though, not ferrous metal.

Might not be rust. Could be burns.

Either way wouldn't be the first Star Trek ship with that detail, Klingons ships have damage like that.

It would depend on why she left starfleet, and what rank she was when she left.

Looking at screen caps of the actual Eleos and not the concept model, it doesn't appear to have any of that 'rust' in the final show model.

Perhaps the paint has an iron base?
Only seems to be in the areas that are painted.

Could be part of some sort of squadron, like the White Stars from Babylon 5.

It'll be interesting to learn in a couple of years what Blass, Drexler, and Krause have to say about the whole design process when they can speak more freely.

    I don't think it's rust, I think it's phaser scorching.

Dave Blass posted more information on the Eleos on his Twitter account. Apparently the Eleos is a Phoenix-class ship, "designed as a small rapid response vessel ... the Phoenix-class was a move towards higher warp speeds in smaller designs." The warp field governor is key to such relatively high speeds in a small ship.

I didn’t realise it was THAT small. Especially not small enough to be compared to a runabout.
