Those of you who were around back in 2004 might remember this design created by Reverend, a.k.a. "Reverend Trigster:"
You may also remember that I was so intrigued by the concept that I decided to create a 3D model of it, with Reverend's blessing of course. Unfortunately, this was another one of those projects that I started but never finished. This is as far as I got with it:
This business of starting things and never finishing them is a bad habit I need to kick. To that end, I've been going back and doing a little extra work here and there on some of my old modeling projects in an effort to finally complete some of the better ones, like Reverend's Starhawk. I dug out the old files for it last weekend and spent some time sprucing it up a bit. Still has quite a ways to go but it's getting there. Here is a sneak peak at the latest progress:
I'm still trying to stick very close to Reverend's original design, but I am adding some slight embellishments and extrapolations here and there.
I am bouncing around among several different projects just to stay fresh and try to keep the juices flowing. The Grandeur is still my priority and I've been doing quite a bit of work on that, especially some fine detailing work on the nacelles, but I have to break away from it now and then to avoid total brain lock. That's where little side projects like the Starhawk come in.
By the way, some of you may detect a Ryan Church influence on the deflector design in this latest rendering and you'd be right. That's one feature of the new Enterprise that I rather like, but I did make some modifications of my own. In fact, I'm giving serious thought to revamping the deflector on my Conjectural Enterprise model with a similar design.
More to come on this in the next few days, and I should be posting some new Grandeur WIPs as well.
