Starfleet Command 1

MANT!

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Been trying to run Starfleet Command (the Gold edition) on my new computer with zero luck..it hits the loading screen and locks up (Not Responding)

systems specs...
Dell Inspiron 570
AMD Athlon II X2 240 Processor
4 Gig Ram
Integrated Graphics ATI ® Radeon ® HD 4200
Windows 7 Home Premium

Any Ideas?

Yes I do, I'm running O/P with the Plus mod and SFCII missions as we speak..I just miss the wonderful storylines of the first Starfleet Command game...and no one has been able to port those wonderful missions to the later SFC games..

Wouldn't run on my newish PC... so I dug out my wife's clunker and it run great.
That may be a decent short term solution.
What a fun game. :) Iagree with goldbug about the missions. And you gotta love going to the Academy with Sulu as your teacher!

Success!!!

took some looking on the Dynaverse forum but the solution was found at the following..

http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163390374.0.html

1. Insert CD and run setup exe as administrator.

2. Once files are loaded, go into the install directory. across the top where the name, size, type is located click on the file type.

3. then click on applications, to bring up only the exe files..

4. Right click on each exe file. click on properties, click on compatibility tab.

5. put a check in compatibility mode for (WTF!) windows 2000...go figure.

6. Now the boring stuff... ;) put a check in both visual themes and desktop composition and run in admin.

7. if you want to be real sure click on the show setting for all users tab and redo the whole process once more.

It works like a champ...

Thanks Rook...

Ahh glad you got it to work!! I can't even find my SFC1 disk.... :( And lost my SFC: OP disk so had to buy a new one last month! I really shold keep better track of these disks!!! I also lost my SFCIII disks...

^^, yeah, it's a good idea to keep the jewel case or booklet handy so you can put the 000---0000-00000 in as well.
My SFCI was useless for years until I found the case by accident! :D

The funny thing is, I have all the jewel cases, just misplaced the CD's! Probabaly had them in the CD Rom drive at some point, took them out for something else, laid it down, and POOF!

it plays very well...the single player missions for each race are fantastic..
am looking forward to enjoying many hours of fun... I got the game in 2003 but had my Win98 PC give out soon after, so I was no longer able to play it... When I replaced the computer a month later , the replacement was running XP and the game simply didn't perform well with lots of fits and starts in the video.

So here it is, 7+ years later and I'm finally running it..and looking forward to modding it with some models and missions I was able to locate on the internet.

Again thanks..
