Starfleet Acadamy Experience

It's a little pricey, I need to persuade my wife that it's IMPORTANT! But hell ya, im interested!

I'm debating about going to see it on the Intrepid. I'll be moving back to Ottawa in a few weeks and we have it there too.

I would appreciate anything you want to post on the exhibit.
It was great seeing some of the actual costumes from the series, the academy theme was fun, when you enter you register and carry an ID chip in a wrist band that you scan at the displays it gave you something to do other than just read things I would bet most of us know already. You can shoot a phaser, do a medical scan and practice a few words in Klingon.
Taking the Kobiashi Maru test at the end on the "bridge" of the D was a hoot, I doubt the bridge is entirely accurate, but it was fun to sit in Picard's chair. I bought a VIP pass so we would not have a time constraint on us, as we drove up from Baltimore that morning and my wife and knew we would have to wrangle the boys.
The only things that annoyed me was going with my 7 and 2 year old boys, we need to exit the exhibition enter the ship to use the rest rooms, leaving and going back in was a hassle and a half, I my sons and I were the only ones in costumes, I mean how hard is it remember on the fat Captain Kirk and two little Spocks are coming right back in. The gift shop was a rip off, but this is expected in all museums, but again a pain with little ones. but he biggest irk I had was to go to the flight deck and see the Galileo shuttle craft ( on loan from Houston) you need to buy a general admission and shuttle exhibit which for 2 adults and one child, was another 50. but in for a penny ...but getting to see the Galileo and the real NASA Enterprise shuttle was awesome, the size and scope of the two of them was amazing.

If I was in the City and had a few hours free, I would swing by again.

I am on holiday in NYC from London and seeing this ehbision was a pleasant surprise. Turns out I am fit for Communications and Engineering and blew up the ship after saving 50 Kobiyashi Maru crew lol

I didn't find it was worth the money. The best bit was the giant Enterprise model right at the start. The rest was interesting besides the (lame) games but overall it was too expensive for what you got. In Ottawa most/all of the props were replicas which kinda kills the point. Might as well look at a replica in a toy store for free. Apparently a lot of people were going for the exclusive 50th anniversary merchandise, but even that was lacking because the shipments kept failing to arrive. Shelves were bare when I went in with the staff saying their re supply was weeks late.
