Blast from the past 'Starburst' magazine is still about (like the uk's version of Starlog which isn't about now) and several Trek movies feature in this 80s SciFi retro list https://www.starburstmagazine.com/features/80-best-genre-films-80s Man reading through those just makes me long for the 80s! and reminds me of how much the Trek movies were part of the 80s SF movie landscape (its easy to forget when you always think of the Trek films as part of the whole Trek franchise not so much as part of the SciFi film genre)
#58 - Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home #17 - Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan Next, I was I was looking through this list, I realized I need to see Brazil. I have not seen that yet!
Trek III should've been on there too. and Excalibur.. Also Terminator should've been in top 10 (probably top 5)
new issue of SB has top 100 SF films of all time and just flicking through it the store notice about half the Trek movies make the list .. including TFF! https://www.facebook.com/starburstmagazine/posts/3645411672153642?__xts__[0%
My knee jerk answer was "Battle Beyond the Stars is from the SEVENTIES! DURRRR", but nope. 1980. Good catch.
full list! THE TOP 100 SCI-FI FILMS OF ALL TIME (AND SPACE) - STARBURST Magazine Spoiler Star Trek II #24. VI #41. III #61. IV #65. V(!!) #72. FC #87. Galaxy Quest #69. but no TMP or ST09? but the top 20 is pretty much on point
Star Trek V has no business being on that list, especially above some of the classics that are on it.
having Trek V in front of the likes of Mad Max 2, Dark City and Superman is spit tea out over screen hilarious
There were some interesting one off magazines in the early 80’s... one besides Starlog...had a fan art contest for what the Enterprise A would look like. There was some art of a ship with 3 torpedo ports instead of two—
Just get the right version. I don't think the truncated cut is still around, but if it is you'll get a wrong view of it.
