Star Wreck 2Pi Twistdrive

Some of you may know about the Finnish Trek parody Star Wreck ( http://www.archive.org/details/StarWreckInThePirkinning-UnofficialUkEnglishEdition ). Well, it got something like 9 million downloads and a lot of fans, so logically there's now a Star Wreck fan film in production, so yes... it's a fan film of a fan film.

The new unofficial 'Wreck is called "Star Wreck 2Pi: Twistdrive", and is being produced by a Swiss brother-and-sister team who previously did a Buffy/Charmed parody called Jinxed & Stabbed (which you can download here http://en.vuu.ch/ ).

They're doing 2Pi with help from other Wreck fans around the globe:

Although it's by a totally different production team, the characters and actors of the original Star Wreck have cameo appearances, and part of it was filmed in the offices of Energia productions (who made the original Star Wreck).

Also, 2Pi is being produced through the collaborative volunteer production site Wreckamovie, which was founded by the makers of Star Wreck. If anyone wants to take part in this production, just join at the above link. That's how I got involved in it, mostly on the script translation side of things. 2Pi is now at the end of the shooting phase, and the post-production has begun. The early post-production stuff is still quite rough, but there are some test screens and short clips available at the link above.

Yeah, Faldor is part of the 2Pi production too, and (depending of course on what the editor does with the footage) you should see him on the bridge of one of the Twister ships. And I might be on the bridge too, assuming I escape the cutting room floor...

OK, here's the scoop: I only started Star Trek Reviewed in June, 2009. I initially thought of parodies as all being shows ridiculing Star Trek, so I was going to leave them out altogether. As I worked on the website, I realized that wouldn't work.

I know there are major films inside my parody/comedy listings, including Star Wreak, that should have their own web page. And, at some point, they will. But the truth is, this website has prover to be a much bigger project than I expected. When I started I thought that, in total, I'd probably find as many as 60 or 70 fan films. Well, I'm pretty sure the number is over 300, and could easily reach 400. This in spite of eliminated my original idea of including audio Trek; Kirok has just made a list of 180 episodes of Audio Trek at his website, vis: http://twelvedays2009.blogspot.com/2009/12/day-4-audio-dramas.html . If I hadn't eliminated audio Trek, we'd be looking at 500 to 600 items.

I'm expecting the Finnish Star Wreak to wind up with it's own page. That's easy. I'm at a loss with what I would do with Stone Trek. Clearly, it's not timeline based. I have to watch some of it to decide if it's a Flintstone crossover or a pure Trek parody. It's hard to classify the parodies with the same criteria as I do the dramas. So, integrating them into the website will be a major project. One that, I know, I have to tackle at some point.

For now, Fan Film groups that have ALREADY produced films are listed for the films they've actually produced, either under a type heading (Comedy, Parody, Non-English, Lego, filmed live Theater, shorts, etc.) or as a major film. The purpose of listing groups that haven't yet produced a fan film is twofold:
(1) To help my readers sort out groups that they may find on the web which sound like they have fan films to offer, but don't.
(2) To help the Star Trek Fan Film enthusiast who would like to work on a fan film being produced near them to find these groups. I also offer a Fan Film Production Map, (See Blog/Webpage numbered 4, http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/4.html ) which, eventually, will include as many of the Fan Film Production groups as I can locate.

Again, the website is still a work in progress. Nevertheless, I have some regulars... people who come by once a week or more. (Truth is, there are a few people who come by more than once a day. Trek addicts?). At this point, the bulk of my traffic is return visits.

Finally, I had to create Star Trek Restricted for Films which would be rated R and above. I had no idea when I started this that such things even existed.

It's a great site you're running, much appreciated.

I'm glad it's helping people find and enjoy fan films. And I know the filmmakers like being found, as well.

But if I had had any idea of how MANY filmmakers there were, how MANY films there were, when I started, I would never have undertaken it!
