Star Wars The Old Republic: Fatal Alliance Discussion (Spoilers)

I'm half way through Sean Williams novel and it is quite excellent. I have read one or two of his previous original novels and have enjoyed his work. I understand that this is one of two tie-in novels based on the upcoming video game and the next one deals with the Sack of Courscant. Has anyone actually finished Fatal Alliance yet? I'll be done by Monday.

I would have gotten it if they'd released it in paperback. Del Rey's gotten really hardcover happy in recent years.

I'm hoping a paperback copy comes out before the game does, but I may not worry about it and just pick it up when the second tie-in comes out in March since that one certainly won't get reissued in paperback before the game launches.

I checked it out from the library...they've been really great about stocking new Star Wars books, I wish they'd do the same for Star Trek though.

That's not a bad idea at all, and one I certainly should have thought about previously. I used to be all about checking books out from the local library, but in recent years I've just been buying instead. Perhaps it's time to renew my library card. I even have an "in," so to speak, to get stuff ordered or loaned in from other libraries: one of my closest friends works at our local branch.

I've been reading most of my current books from the library, they've been great in the last two or three years getting new books in. Back to the novel though I'm really enjoying the character of Jedi Grand Master Satele Shan who it seems was first introduced in the Old Republic comics as a hottie Jedi no less.

That (and the shittiness of the stories) is one reason I quit reading the Star Wars novels. I stopped reading at the end of the LOTF series and have not been tempted since. It was a struggle to read even that much (the entire LOTF series). Long waits on the paperback, then the inevitably poor quality of the writing and raping of the characters led me to just stop altogether.

I might make exceptions for writers I know I like or for stories that aren't post LOTF but Del Rey's ruined the universe for me for the most part. If this book turns out to be good, and the paperback comes out I might pick it up but more than likely I'll just skip it if it's another Del Rey retcon.

My library used to get all the Star Wars hardbacks I requested but they stopped this year, so I'm quickly falling behind.

Finished reading the book and thought it was great, would love a follow up or a sequel to this particular book. The ending leaves it open for such a possibility.
