Star Wars The Clone Wars

My family and I rented this video this past weekend and I thought it was good. I noticed it has some really negative reviews on wookepedia and wikipedia, but I can not agree.

My children thought it was a great movie and didn't have any problems with the humor or dialog.

I laughed a number of times at the 'silly' humor. I haven't any of the cartoon network shows so I don't know how that series builds off the movie, but I look forward to seeing them.






Maybe unrelated, but in Episode II I think Obe wan says that Anikan has only saved him nine times and they have a debate as to the 10th time. Does the cartoon network show ever touch base on this 10th time that Obe Wan says doesn't count. I'd like to see that event.

The problem was on several levels in regards to the THEATRICAL RELEASE of the Clone Wars CGI series.

1) Too many Star Wars fanboys over the age of 35 complaining endlessly about how "kiddie" the movie was while not understanding that Lucas was going after a younger audience to build the brand and reintroduce it to folks under the age of 18.

2) The movie was kind of silly in parts and it didn't translate well to the audience's expectations.

3) Ultimately, the movie was a lot of fun and had some great moments and the animation wasn't bad either.

4) I strongly recommend watching the CLONE WARS TV series because the story is awesome and it definitely enriches the Star Wars universe in ways I didn't expect -- mainly seeing a lot of the Jedi's from the background of the movies in action and stories about their singular adventures. Every episode does not revolve around Obi-Wan and Anakin and that's a good thing.

Check out the TV show with your kids, its awesome.

I haven't any of the cartoon network shows so I don't know how that series builds off the movie, but I look forward to seeing them.

The TV series is in kind of an anthology format, jumping around to deal with a large cast of different characters and situations, though there will often be arcs linking 2-3 sequential episodes, sometimes quite loosely. So there's generally not much "building off" of the movie's events, aside from using the same characters.

However, this Friday's episode is actually a prequel of sorts to the movie. The film opened with the main characters in the middle of a battle on the planet Christophsis, and apparently this episode will show the beginning of that battle, presumably in flashback.

Sounds like something I could watch so long as it isn't overlapping with BSG. I'll have to check the schedules. I know my oldest son follows the Clone Wars closer than I do. I had to actualy force him to watch the movies so he understood how everything meshed together. Now I cant get him away from Star Wars, but I suppose thats good for Lucas....not so good for Santa....if you know what I mean.

I can see how older people who were fans of TOT may not like the animated show really well. But I thought everything about the movie was really well done. I wasn't even annoyed by the padawan. People just need to realize if Star Wars is to survive Lucas has to retool and present the story in a way to get new people invovled.

I should take my own advice in relation to Star Trek 09, but I can't...
