Played by a 27 year old though. And the live action series would have to take place at least a decade later, so it's not implausible

It' was fortunate how Lucas cast a relatively young actor to play the emperor back in the 80s isn't it

But I sure wish he would have stuck with this original idea and had the second Death Star being built by wookie slave labor above Kashyyyk. Seriously, nobody would have questioned it if a hundred escaped wookies kicked the crap out of the stormtroopers.

Even though Chewbacca was no more useful than a creature half his size would be.

The best thing he does is highjack that AT-ST, and I suspect that was the Ewoks' idea.

To be fair though, Chewie is 200+ years-old. Cut the old guy some slack!

I'm pretty sure I read in an interview with Lucas that the series will take place moments after Order 66 is declared.

Wow, that's an odd way to look at it. Chewie is a starship engineer, the Ewoks are pre-technological.

The point being is that the Ewoks in any realistic point of view should have no chance against the Stormtroopers. It was completely unbelievable and a choice that takes away from the suspension of disbelief. ROTJ was great, but that was a significant weakness, whereas the Wookies would have been a great story and fill in Chewie's background.

It was done to sell toys, and it shows.

"Realistic"? It's Star Wars. Space soldiers vs. teddy bears. It's funny.

I was kidding. The Ewoks are made to me infallible in ROTJ, having set traps in all the right places among other things.

Yeah I always wondered how the Ewoks managed that particular feat. Maybe they had planned on assaulting the Endor bunker for some time. After all they had scouted it out enough to know the "back door" option was less heavily defended. They had catapults and traps set up in the area as well. Seems to me they would have attacked the Shield Generator on their own eventually... or maybe I am putting way too much thought into this... yeah thats probably it.

Despite their primitive technology and their outward appearance they weren't stupid. They built traps that fooled the Rebels as well - including a Jedi!

They did, also, build their elaborate village up in the trees. That requires a certain amount of intelligence.

Oh the Ewoks were certainly smart, they had manned (ewoked?) gliders which we didn't develop until much later technologically speaking. I also wonder though if the Ewoks warred amongst themselves or came up with these weapons and tactics after the Empire arrived.

Cost concerns prevented it, that's why we got them in Episode Three.
