Star Wars Darth Revan novel announced

Whofan

Fleet Captain

According to the interview, it'll pick up some of the loose threads from the KOTOR games (Although not, it seems the comic series) and also tie it in with the upcoming Old Republic MMO.

For those who are going who? Here's spoiler info about Revan:
Darth Revan was a former Jedi turned Sith Lord who was captured and mind-wiped by the Jedi, and trained as a Jedi Knight on a galaxy-spanning adventure before remembering his true identity. The saga of Revan is told in the first Knights of the Old Republic RPG video game in which Revan is the head of your party, and it's up to the player to choose if Revan continues down the Jedi path, or reclaims his life as a Sith Lord.Revan's fate in the sequel, "The Sith Lords" is left largely open (and is based on the 'good' ending)

I think it's a mistake to write a novel from Revan's point of view. I know he's canonically male according to TPTB (and I prefer Revan as a male), but, IMO, it would be like writing a Mass Effect novel from Shepard's point of view. The most interesting part about Revan was that the fans could fill in their own details about his personality and his background.

I allways played revan as a female and do you think it lead into a novel dealing with the events of kotor 2 and that character?

So... do we find out what happened to Revan after KOTR 1? Is this the story of him/her going out in uncharted space to find and destroy that hidden Sith empire they alluded to in KOTR 2?

EDIT: I read the interview, and we WILL find out what Revan does after KOTR 1 but he doesn't mention a hidden Sith empire.

While I do agree that the idea of doing something based on a blank slate character like Revan is kinda odd,I like the time frame, and the story of KOTOR, so I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this.

Unfortunately, KOTOR has to fit in to the giant, convoluted mess that is Star Wars canon. Thinking of your Revan as yours was probably not a good idea to begin with.

Something similar will probably happen with Mass Effect as well, eventually.

Seeing as there was never going to be a KOTOR III I'm glad they are at least dealing with what happened to Revan in a way that people who played those games but might not want to play TOR can get into.

I wonder if the Sith Emperor is going to be anyone we know (or should know). I'm not up on who-is-who of that period to guess who it might be. It is unlikely to be Revan himself as the Emperor has been portrayed to be the same person that founded the Sith Empire, then met with Revan and Malak prior to their return as Dark Lords and is still in charge 300 years later during the events of TOR. Though all these reports are from the Jedi, so their accuracy might not be all that great...maybe it could be Revan somehow.

They did the same with Jaden Korr from the game Jedi Academy. That seemed to go well enough that he's getting a second book. Given Revan would probably be a far more popular character it should be money in the bank for Lucasbooks.

^ Or go further and make it one of those "choose your own adventure!" books. I use to love those when I was in primary school.

If they were using characters from the KOTOR comics, like Zayne Carrick and Gryph, I would be on-board. As it is, meh.

After the Darth Bane novels, I'd rather Karpyshyn stay far, far away from characters who were cool in the comics.
