Star Wars comics and their worth

I recently found a box in the bottom of my closet with the entire run of Marvel's Star Wars series in it. The original that ran from 1977 to 1986. Some issues are in better shape than others (missing covers on one or two, a page here and there), but I've got them all. I recently attempted to look online for where I could sell them, and what they are worth, but all I found were site after site of vague listings. All anybody could tell me is "It depends". Fine, but on what exactly? Nobody seems to know.

Anybody here know anything? There's got to be a definitive answer someplace.

I think the most valuable ones are the first few (including the movie adaptation) and the last post-ROTJ ones, especially the last issue which is very hard to find.

It really does depend on who you're going to sell them to.

Regardless of what their market value might be, not everyone is going to pay that, so you're going to have to hunt around for whoever is going to give a good deal on them. But some may only pick out certain issues as mentioned above--and pass on buying the rest. Others may just give you a flat number for the whole lot that may work out to be far less than the cover price per issue, especially if some issues are in bad shape.

The "it depends" probably comes from what shape they are in. Looking at milehighcomics.com (tend to be priced high) some of the Star Wars comics can be worth between 75cents and 15 dollars all depending on the condition.

Maybe the ones with Vance done by Simonson might be worth something since that was where the concept of Cable originated.

Off the top of my head, most will be worth at best $2 - $7. The later issues (past #100) can go for $10 each, but if you are patient you might be able to find someone willing to pay $20. The first six had multiple printings. Some of those issues can be worth $30 depending on the printing. Star Wars Insider had an article about this within the last two years. Your best bet is to check the completed listings on eBay.

Basically, the rarer the issue, the more valuable.

I have one earlier Star Wars comic (the one with Han on one knee shooting his blaster; I forget the issue #)...but I don't recall it being worth much since it wasn't a rare issue.

Even some of the Spider-Man comics I have, including Gwen Stacey's death, and the introduction to Luke Cage (ah! a spoiler!) is not worth much...

Of course, as someone mentioned, it depends on condition...

I bought them all for around $45-50 each...

Well, I stink at math, but by your figures, I'm sitting on $1,000.00 here. I dunno, that sounds too good to be true, but it does give me a starting point.

Thanks.

At best $1,000.00. Go check eBay completed listings and do your own research. Obviously the comics that are missing covers and pages are worth $0.

This mindset of price speculation in comics nearly destroyed the industry. If you look at comics merely for what they are worth, just stop. The only real answer to the original question is that they are worth only what someone is willing to pay for them. No more, no less. To someone who doesn't read comics and/or isn't a Star Wars fan, those comics are worth less than a roll of toilet paper.
