Star Trek X & XI sets.....

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=ship+engine+room

Scroll through the images, keeping in mind that the question is, "Why would an engine room on a ship have visual similarities with a brewery?" Also, keep in mind that there is no such thing as an FTL starship, and consequently, there is nothing in the real world to use for comparison, or even just as a guide, when depicting the engine room of such a thing.

Nailed it.

I like the way nuEnterprise's lower levels are treated. It looks much more like there are a bunch of big machines and components needed for spaceflight and living in space, around which have been built the decks and access gantries, etc. It also seems more what they would have liked to depict in the original show, from the description of the engineering levels as being complex and maze-like in "The Enemy Within" - one really could successfully hide for sometime in the XI/XII engineering spaces.

I also remember when leaving '09, my friend commenting, "That's the first Enterprise I'd believe has a working toilet."

I look at the Serenity's engine room and think that spaceship is held together with rubber bands and blu tac. I think its totally ridiculous.

But heh I know that if there are spaceships in the future their engine room is not going to look like the engine room in the NX-01, 1701, 1701A or 1701D or Serenity or the Millennium Falcon or the Galileo or that ship in Farscape. Believe it or not no engine room is going to look like that in VOY.

So its sort of strange to go off about the inaccuracy of the engine room in nuTrek.
The worst thing you could say IMO is that its inconsistent with TOS/TAS/TMP.

I thought the sets in STID and "locations" like the warp core were better overall than ST09. I enjoyed the scale of it as usual. Makes the ship look larger than it ever did in the original movies series.

RAMA
