I love TNG. I consider it the Apex both of the time in my life when it was on the air and of Humanities Vision for itself.
It is as Picard once said: "as Comfortable as old leather..."
But I am not satisfied with the 178 episodes. There are 137 published books and countless stories at the Star Trek Writers Guild. What if ALL of those were livable, explorable, conversational Episodes as VR Holodeck adventures?
I have spent the last 20 years Learning to be a software and game developer. I have been a VR NUT since it first came (back) in 2015. I learned C++, And all the graphic tools such as 3ds Max, Photoshop, Unreal Engine. (Having learned each tool, from the very first day they existed) All with one eventual goal in mind;
To recreate the world of Star Trek: TNG and 'live' aboard the Enterprise D.
I have recently become expert with utilizing and incorporating machine learning and AI.
I have for years become proficient professionally with Unreal Engine MetaHumans: The ability to recreate physically Accurate and photoreal digital human.
I have perfected the technique of marrying the two.
So that now I can walk up to one of my MetaHumans in VR ask it a question and get a verbal response something dynamic and adaptive (Like: 'Minuet' was), that converses naturally. (based on a history that i've given the character...)
In addition, I have perfected the ability to recreate a voice perfectly and then use text to drive that voice. Using Mozilla tools for instance, I can create a Text to Voice Plugin.
My first test? Majel Barret. In addition to all her published comments as Ship's Computer,.... Years ago, I cracked the game: Star Trek: 'Judgement Rites' (I also made an animated episode from the voices called Beyond Antares) that had Majel Barrett playing the ship's computer where you could type in any Trek related thing, and she talk about it.
So Hundreds and Hundreds of lines of Majel, speaking as Ship's computer, in a sound booth, perfectly recorded and balanced,. WHAT TO DO with this treasure trove right?
I saved the files since the early 2000's because I knew, that one day I would be able to make use of it and the time has now come.
As an early test, I used mozzila tools and created a Majel Barrett Text to voice speech plugin. With so much clean data it worked better than I could have hoped.
Now I am able to have Majel Barrett voice as AI computer voice in my ship!
I can now talk to the ship's computer and she'll talk back to me intelligently! A huge step..
I can ask her anything, and she will speak back in Majel Barrett's Voice. I want Luaxanna on the ship too!
So what do you get if you put all these together?
The ability to photo realistically recreate the characters, the ship, to see it all in VR?
The ability to convincingly recreate their voices based on a text input in realtime.
The ability to incorporate AI to be able to converse with them and have them say new unexpected things based on a history that you give them and their entire known history.
What do you get? AI TNG World Holodeck!
I'm not asking for money or anything. I'm just doing this for my own interests. And because it can be done now, finally... This is my retirement plan. This is where I want to be when i'm too old to be anywhere else. I can be A guest or any member of the crew.
But I'm going to take it one step further; I plan to make it so that I can take any Next Generation novel. Or story, Paste the text into my ai input. It will then generate the story as an unreal engine VR adventure using existing MetaHumans, my 3D Sets, and their voices as Text to Speech plugins.
You live as a guest, a ghost or any character, being guided through the story using the Text-to-speech dialogue and the photo Real characters. In fact, I plan to do it with all the novels i've never read. I have held back from reading any TNG novels, so I have all these AI episodes that I can 'live' later in life as VR Holodeck episodes.
It's all now completely doable, technically. Finally. I have spent decades learning the tools required to make this happen. It's everything i've trained for all my life.
I want to retire to the Enterprise D.
One hundred and seventy eight stories is not enough. I will recreate all of them as VR adventures yoo yes. Then I will continue to the 137 novels. And then I will convert every story I can find into my database of:
Star Trek TNG: The Complete VR/Holodeck Adventure

I just had to share that. I have worked so hard for so long, ... I honestly didn't think we would be here this quickly and that I would be able to create Text to voice plugins using samples and deep learning. I'm going to use technology to Recreate the thing I love the most!
I guess i'm kind Looking for a place where I can update about this while working on it? I don't think I can really share the end result, because I'll get a cease and desist from CBS. But at least I can talk about what i'm doing for my own retiremen
