It's no rumor. The big three US toy retailers (Toys R' Us, Wal-mart, and Target) all told Playmates to go take a flying leap after flooding them with multiple waves of Wave 1 toys that stopped selling the moment the movie came out. Marking them down was the only way they could get rid of 'em and that made them take a pass on Wave 2. That pretty much stopped Playmates in their tracks to the point they couldn't even go into mass-production with it, forcing most online retailers to cancel preorders.Rumor has it that Playmates have put the 2009 movie figures on hold, due to lack of sales. I would seen to be true, because of the mark down of the figures.
Right, because the toy line is the only true way of determining a franchise's reinvigoration...
