I don't want to drag this thread too far off-topic into the political realm, but really; an absurd concern not based on reality! Don't believe the rumors is my advice and certainly don't use it as an excuse not to go.

Rumours? Your opinion. We’ve had people in our local area given a hard time just going across the border to do some shopping. You also have a President as well as the U.S. Ambassador to Canada mouthing off about our country. So they can go fuck themselves. This is my part of the boycott. I’m not spending my money, nor risking any uncalled for harassment, in a country where the government is hellbent on making it a fascist hellhole. We may have our own issues, but we sure as hell don’t have a masked and unidentified gestapo snatching people off the street arbitrarily and dispatching them who knows where without due process.

If your mainstream media is so cowed that it doesn’t report the news to you thats not my problem, but yours. Countries around the world along with Canada are issuing travel advisories to avoid the U.S. because it’s no longer considered safe.

A friend of mine had gone to Ticonderoga in 2023 and stopped of at my place on his way home. He really enjoyed his visit. At the time I was watching over my elderly mother and I couldn’t leave her alone for a couple of days—it didn’t feel right. But then she passed away in April of ‘24 and that shot the summer and fall of ‘24 to hell with having to set her affairs and her house in order as well as me finding a new place to live. So I planned for summer of ‘25.

Then November ‘24 and January ‘25 and afterward happens and everything went downhill to shit.

Now I don’t when or if I’ll ever be able to go.

It seems pretty bland, not at all frightening. I would not let this stop me from going to one of the coolest places on earth but that's just me. Sorry you won't be able to enjoy it, I believe your fear is unfounded personally but of course it is your choice.

I sooo much want to go see the TOS exhibit in Ticonderoga. I had hoped to go during the summer, planning on it since 2024. But regrettably I'm not going across the border from Canada due to the political situation in the U.S. While I've heard of people not having any trouble crossing I've also heard of others running into not-so-friendly U.S. border staff. There have also been stories of some Canadians getting an unwelcome or even hostile attitude and even having their cars vandalized.

A year ago I was all set to go for the summer of 2025. Now I have no idea when or if I'll ever be able to go. It all depends on how things unfold south of the border, and presently from up here things down there don't look good.

Sorry, I don't want to derail the thread, but I'm pissed. I've long seen the U.S. as a welcoming place but that's not the feeling coming from there now.

As a U.S. resident, all I will say given the moderator comments is that I'm sorry and I hope you get the chance sooner than later.

While that would be far better than puppets and musicals, it would risk slightly validating a show that in no way, shape, or form deserves validation as iconic Star Trek.
