Star Trek: The space between

Working regularly, one new chapter a week, not so many more to go now.

Fun to finish a project. My last project (A surreal version of the march on Rome, set in a future US, with alien plant-life taking over, and all the fascists having turned into anarchists) was never completed.

Odd that people liked it, actually - This story is more thoroughly worked through.

There's no indication of when this story takes place, (before or after ENT, TOS, TMP, TNG, etc.) No calendar dates / stardates mentioned in your story at all.

Why not give a person a little feedback on their writing rather than skim it for details in order to churn out yet another bland cover that a: they've never asked for and b: inevitably looks just like all the others you create?

Urge, first chapter of the story is well-written, and you have created an excellent sense of energy that a lot of fanfiction writers are unable to imbue their creations with.

Khark himself is an interesting character with the ability to hold my attention, and I particularly liked the low-tech rocket seen at the beginning of Chapter Two since all we tend to see in Star Trek is relatively advanced spacecraft equipped with inertial dampers and artificial-gravity and the like. The concept of the Ferengi selling advanced technology to worlds not ready for it is an established one and one worthy of exploration.

An interesting and enjoyable read, looking forward to reading more from you.

What a cool image! :)

The story is very early Kirkiverse - I think I will add that to the general description.

Since English is my second language, stuff like grammar and word-placing might be a bit odd. - But hopefully it is mostly right.

Looking back in the chapters, I found out that I have added a stardate in the story.

Kirk is doing a captains log, and at the beginning he says that it is stardate 1312,3 - the first TOS episode starts at 1312,4, and it is at the beginning of the five-year journey, but before the first episode.

Kirk and his crew are not really main characters, but they are a part of the story never the less.

Here you go. I adjusted the image to better fit the Shatnerverse-era you specified for me, right before Christopher Pike hands off the Enterprise and his First Officer / Science Officer Spock to Kirk.

I will ask you to not to offer this level of criticism please, especially since it is not your fan fiction that this cover was made for.

In my story, Kirk already have the Enterprise, and is on his way into unexplored space to embark on the first adventures of the TV-series. - Spock is a freshman from the academy. Would that be cannon-violation?

About the cover-suggestions...

Would you consider making something in the same style, but with the "Yumaar explorer" instead of a federation ship? It would be long and thin, a bit like the ship from "2001 - a space odyssey", but with a cannon, a radar-tower, more sections, and some other details added. The first two/three chapters give a more thorough description of the vessel.

Sure. If you want to do something in exchange for me, make a donation to your neighborhood SPCA. Or volunteer with a Food Exchange that are usually set-up like Food Banks, for registered welfare/disability pension recipients. I'm google-searching for the vessel you've requested, but in the meantime can you link an image of it, here? (if you have a favorite.)

Mm- Yeah.

Could be something like that - only that the Yumaar explorer has several sections behind the command-section up front, and the one containing the landing-shuttle is bigger than the others. - But not as big as the front-section.

Is that sketch based on the description in the fan-fic? It looks a bit different in my head, but that's one of the fascinating thing with novels - different people form different inner images even though it springs from the same text.

Also:

A front-page with the Yumaar Explorer would need to be something a bit like that second one you made on black background - it must have depth-perception rather than being a flat blueprint.

But most importantly: Working on a front-page with me might become time-consuming, and it wont be profitable, since my product has little commercial value. Don't spend your time on it unless you really, really want to.

Now I am getting to the final chapters, I think I will be finish in time to print it out and give it away to friends and family as a pocket-book:-)

I am wondering though: Are the chapters and descriptions well-ordered and easy to understand? Or are they unruly, messy, and contradictory?

I often find it difficult to keep track of different features in the surroundings described.

Was I the last guy he made a cover for?

Well, I didn't do it

I have been moving, so there has been a break in in the project, but now I'm starting again.

A new chapter will be uploaded tomorrow, or the day after.

Getting closer, closer, closer....

Good :bolian:

I just thought maybe you did, since you said you missed him in this thread, and he was all about making front-covers for my story. Who knows, maybe a glorious artistic collaboration between us was aborted when he was banned? The best front-page ever? I did make one my self though, but it is kind of primitive.

New chapter today, but the story has been changed, so I need to make the next one from scratch.

It will be a bit fun to write again, and not just fix errors in an old text.

Now the two last chapters are done, they just need to be overlooked once or twice before publishing.

The book will be finished in no more than two weeks from now :rommie:

I cant believe I actually did it! This project has taken 1,5 years to complete. If I remember correctly, I wrote the first sentence of the first chapter during it the summer of 2010.

It is my second fan-fic, but the only one that will be completed. I have still not decided whether or not to continue the adventure of Jonas and Yumaar in a sequel.
