As I've always seen this movie as a two hour promo for a special effects company, seeing as it was originally intended - on a full size cinerama screen - is the only way to appreciate it. Even a big screen TV at home doesn't do it justice, and I look askance whenever someone watching it on a tablet demeans it.

(The same is true for 2001, the majesty and spectacle of the production are lost on anything less than a full size theatre screen.)
