Star Trek: The Experience Klingon Encounter Question *Minor Spoiler*

Ok so my girlfriend and I went to Las Vegas last month and we went to Star Trek: The Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton. My favorite part of the ride was being on the Enterprise-D bridge. It only lasted two minutes but it was amazing.

Ok so on to my question...

At the end of the ride the Enterprise-D destroys the Klingon ship over Las Vegas. I lauged and told my girlfriend "if that had been a 'real' Klingon ship destroyed above the strip it would've leveled the entire city!!!" Anyone else notice this? :wtf:

I did think the end battle requires quite a bit of artistic license, although it's so cool to be in a starship battle right above Vegas...

As for the destruction of the Klingon ship, I think first of all, the debris that would have rained down on the Strip would be very dangerous. As to whether the Klingon BoP would suffer a warp core breach, it depends. Some Trek ship explosions have been massive (for instance the core breach on the Equinox), while others are more localized (the disintegration of the Akira class ship at Sector 001 in FC). It seems that in some cases there is more of a 'vaporization' or 'implosion' whereas in other cases it is more massive.

Nonetheless the destruction of a BoP above Las Vegas should have caused signifcant debris and damage enough to affect at least several large blocks. It also depends on whether it was a B'rel or K'vort class. I think it was the smaller type.

Lastly imagine the effects of hundreds of Vegas residents seeing the E-D above them. I think as you exit the ride, some TV monitors show 'local news coverage' of a UFO sighting. :D

Yeah, perhaps not the most realistic thing ever, but the ride really is incredibly clever. The first time I stepped onto the Ent-D bridge was freaking awesome, and the humor towards the end, especially after you get off the ride, was great too. I hope The Experience doesn't go away - I go to Vegas once every couple of years and that's always on my list of things to do.

Plus, the Phaser Fire is the greatest drink in the world!
