Star Trek : The Art Of The Film

I'd mostly be buying this for the uniform and character art - so can I ask if there's much of Gaila and/or Madeline? I'm not sure if I'm better off asking for a scan if there's only one page relevant to my interests.

I've been waiting for this since it was announced and hopefully my Chapters won't make me wait days to get their damn shipment in, they've been worse than usual this year. Thanks for posting those pics...it looks like there's some really cool stuff in there. I'm not sure what to buy first next week. The DVD or the book?

Well, the DVD isn't going to have all the feature that the Blu-Ray will, might not even have the concept art. So I say go with the book. That's what I'm doing.

Guys, we can't post images from this book. It's a copyright issue. I've deleted the images (or will as soon as I post this.) It's not fair to the author to do stuff like this.

Any good stuff there on the Kelvin?

There are about 7 pages dedicated to it, with some nice stuff. It could have used more coverage though.

There's not that for Gaila and Madeline (a few nice pictures certainly) but there are some very good things showing uniforms and the aliens in general

Are there many good bridge shots and alternate designs?

There are indeed many interesting concept stuff (bridge and otherwise) from the big E and the other starships of the movie.

I fully understand & respect the legal & copyright issues with the images.

But the paradox question is - How can anyone discuss the artwork if we can't see it?

Or do we "I'd like to discuss the artwork on page 12, zone 4"?

So are we no longer allowed to post screencaps anymore? Or make avatars out of copyrighted material? Because it's essentially the same thing.

Not if the book isn't officially out yet in the states I think is T'Bonz's reasoning. The pictures that were posted could be considered leaked pictures...and thus the copyright issue comes into play. Am I on the right path T'Bonz?

This is pretty much the only tie-in book other than the novelization right? Dymocks Aus told me they don't know if they will get it.. but I'm looking fwd to finding it somewhere if not Amazon. I love the cover.

I believe there is also an Enterprise Manual scheduled for 2010
There's that (the Haynes manual) and there are four novels set in the Abramsverse which are scheduled to come out next year.

You have no idea how happy you have just made my day.

I have no problem with the removal of the pictures but, for the record...

I have paid for and have legally bought the book from Amazon.
Whatever images I had posted were nothing but a tiny sample of what's in it just to give people a taste and it was no attempt to pirate the whole thing.

Just for the record :)

You own the book; the paper. Not the images or text it contains.

What does the copyright information at the front of the book say? Probably something like "All rights reserved. This material may not be reproduced, displayed, modified or distributed without the express prior written permission of the copyright holder."

Copyright law is tricky stuff. For instance, did you know that "fan fiction" and other work derived from copyrighted works is a copyright violation?

I am not arguing against any of the points you make and I'm not arguing against the removal of the photos if TPTB of the forum thought it was necessary.

I just did not want to leave any shadows as to if I had actually paid for the thing or if it was something I found online and illegally downloaded or something like that.

^Dude wasn't attacking you or anything was attempting to explain T'Bonz's reasoning for the removal of the pics lol. I loved that you were able to post them, it cinches buying the book for me. You did me a favor...I was a little hesitate about decided to buy it before I saw those pics.

I know you weren't attacking me man, I wasn't attacking you either
Anyway, no harm, no foul.

So...can you post some more pics?

(Just kidding, moderators...)

Anyway...one question, Salvor. Is there any artwork in the book of the Kobayashi Maru? (the ship, not the simulation scenes)

Thanks!

One week to go in the US until the books Tuesday release, the same day as the US DVD/blu-ray release, it should be a fun day indeed!

There are 2 small sketches, that show 2 versions of the ship I believe. And there is also some art of the Klingon ships attacking the Maru.
