Star Trek : The Art Of The Film

@SalvorHardin, what happened to that ship scale image?

I removed it because I didn't want the thread to turn into yet another Enterprise size fighting thread.

If a relevant thread comes up again, I'll post it there along with a few more relevant pics I have.

I didn't a chance to see that image--I don't suppose you could drop me a PM by any chance? :D

Ah ya big tease. Can you at least tell us what it was?

I'll tell you what. I'll start a separate thread and post what I have in there in a few minutes.

This is pretty much the only tie-in book other than the novelization right? Dymocks Aus told me they don't know if they will get it.. but I'm looking fwd to finding it somewhere if not Amazon. I love the cover.

I believe there is also an Enterprise Manual scheduled for 2010

Like the old Technical Manual?

Well, here's all we know so far :

CPLG has also brokered a deal for the "Haynes Enterprise Manual," a unique collaboration between long-standing master publishing partner Simon & Schuster and Haynes Publishing, which will be brought to market in 2010. Recognising Haynes' unique approach to global phenomena such as STAR TREK, Simon & Schuster gave their blessing to the collaboration in an unprecedented move.

In turn, Haynes has created the ultimate guide to the ENTERPRISE, applying its famous 'step-by-step' approach of stripping the mothership down to its essentials and reassembling it with detailed illustrations under the expert guidance of editors, consultants and artists. The Manual is set to be a must buy for existing fans as well as those coming to the franchise through the new movie. Commenting on the deal, Susan Bolsover, CPLG's Category Director for Publishing and Paper product says: "This fantastic collaboration is a milestone for the STAR TREK franchise and comes at a time when the brand is experiencing heightened awareness. Haynes' unique style will bring something new and exciting to the world of STAR TREK."

Mmm, Kelvin.

I sleep in a big Kelvin t-shirt. :D

I'm waiting for the Kelvin Kronicles in ST Lit.

FYI, for reasons unknown to me and kinda annoyingly, Issue #22 of the Star Trek Magazine has a Supplement to "The Art of the Film" book.

It also specifically states: Featuring a portfolio of images not in the book! It also says this is "Volume 1." It's 8-pages at the center of the issue, presumably to make it easy to remove and throw into the book.

The pictures are of the two monsters on Delta Vega, three aliens from the original bazaar scene on Delta Vega, and a concept drawing of a desolate desert-like Delta Vega.

There's also two concept art drawings of the Enterprise bridge, some blueprints of the individual stations, and a John Eaves concept art of Vulcan.

Hadn't heard about that yet. Perhaps (editor) PaulSimpson will be along to enlighten us on that detail.

Kinda wish they referenced the original show a bit more. Especially in the early stages.

It's sort of a good thing that early on they did wild ideas, that way as it developed, they could only go more like TOS.

per the starships section on the bluray, the first design was as pictured; the second was fairly close to TOS but deemed 'dull' (and was to my eyes), the final design was a mashup between that first design and the heavily TOS influenced one.
