Got the Spacedock from my newsagents yesterday, very nice. The pictures do make it seem bigger though, maybe its because of the great detail on on it. Very happy with it, and not bad for £24.99, actually a fair price as it's probably twice the volume of a normal £12.99 issue.
Shows how the XL's are a bit of a ripoff at £50, and the shuttle sets at £75! Which probably have less volume put together than this £25 model.

I actually would have been happy to pay £40 for it to be a bit bigger tbh, but ah well it's still awesome.

XL USS thunderchild is up for preorder in the US store and she looks great:

interestingly, they did put the "USS thunderchild" banner over the registry, unlike the ILM model and standard size issue which don't have it. i would've bought this in a heartbeat a few months ago but with so much good stuff coming from eaglemoss this winter, it's unfortunately not making the cut.
mine is on preorder and usually i'm patient enough about the details, but i gotta know... is the underside of the "mushroom" painted blue or is it transparent blue plastic?

The little bits on the middle section are painted blue, but the big blue ring at the top is blue plastic

There's pictures of the USS Clarke (from the Discovery line) on the facebook group some people have delivered today. Each to their own I guess, some of them look pretty good in this line, but this one to me looks like the blandest ship ever.

folks on the facebook fan group who had their USS glenn orders messed up, received prototypes as an apology, including the prototype for the worker bee:

An XL Akira is good but I’d rather have the J and Aventine.

Probably my third favourite DSC design. Behind the Nimitz and Connie.

Anything interesting mentioned in the book?

Strange how we are all getting these at all different times. I’m subscribed back in September 2017 and I have had no news about the Clarke.

Doing any of the renders show windows in this spot?

Star Trek Online has windows there, so I'm curious.

no, eaves talks about incorporating the NX-class deflector into the design in the magazine.

    here's a render:

and concept art showing the deflector:

I wasn’t talking about the deflector.

Guess I should have been more specific. But those images helped. There doesn't appear to be windows in render, but there is a window or light in the concept art.

    no light/window in that recess.

but i noticed the STO version has other differences, like red glowing bustards and an illuminated deflector.

That’s really odd, they were given the show used models, so I’m surprised the STO one would be inaccurate like that.

Everything else is spot on in the game version. Right down to the hull texture.

It’s really hard make out what the real colour was in the episode

They wanted it to look more "kewl" for the game. Extra blnky lights and glowy bits "take it up a notch".

Except they aim for show accuracy.
That's the only thing different as far as I can see. There are no extra lights or blinky bits.

Really?! I must admit, I only ever played Star Trek Online for about an hour or so (essentially just the tutorial section) and mostly know it from images I've seen around the internet and the board, but my impression has always been that “show accuracy” isn't the first thing on the game developers' minds when it comes to the ships. In fact, most of the game versions of canon ships I have seen look downright cartoonish with weird markings, overly pronounced aztecing and metallic materials turned up to eleven. Have I seen the wrong images?
