Star Trek: Starfleet Command III online for a new player?

hey all, i played this game once or twice when it came out and had problems with it constantly crashing.

i'm thinking about trying it out again, but i just want to know if it has a large online community and how do the new patches make a difference? where can i grab the new patches i've heard about? is it difficult to find a game to play with people online?

i have a mic and ventrilo and would be great if someone could guide me on the trekbbs or on vent.

The game works fine on my WIndows 7 machine which is amazing. Only played it a few months back for the first time and I enjoyed it. Better than SFC1.

Processor type and speed
RAM installed
Video RAM available
Operating software installed..

And what problems you are having..and if possible, when the problems occur during program operation.

Community, Gamespy is dead for any PC running post XP Windows... Use Game Ranger instead..
