Star Trek: Sector 001

Okay...I get it.

A couple of PMS and an Email have asked me what PHASE ONE and PHASE TWO denote? And I can't actually say. So, from hence forth, STAR TREK PHASE TWO; SECTOR 001 (whew..that is long) will now just be called STAR TREK: SECTOR 001. It will still take place along side the new aptly named STAR TREK: USS ENTERPRISE. Hopefully I wont lose anyone with this transition! I'll have to have Uhura send out a special message!!! But new chapters will now be posted in this thread.

SECTOR 001 will deal with the events taking place on, well, Earth.

USS ENTERPRISE will follow the Enterprise as the crew tries to exist in the far off Delta-quadrant, and find their way home.

Earth;
Mn’aeha; the massive Romulan island colony off the coast of Florida.

Romulan Praetor Curio was still under the covers of his bed, and watched with lust in his eyes as his latest male lover, one of the many guards at his command, dressed and prepared to leave. Curio’s sex drive, for both men and women, was no secret, as was his ambition to make the Romulan Empire great again. The guard turned and saluted the Praetor. The Praetor looked over the young man’s naked body and wanted to spend more time with him, but it was not to be. There was much work to be done, and Curio could not be distracted.

“I hope I have pleased you my lord,” the young man said.

“Oh, you have,” Curio said with his own smile. “Now, please leave me. I have much to attend to.”

The guarded bowed his head once, and left the room. Once he was gone, Curio stretched out one last time under the warmth of the blankets. Such was the life of the Praetor.

Ambitions

An hour later the door to Curio’s room opened again and this time Nor’vra, Curio’s female military advisor, and some time lover as well, came into the room.

She watched as Curio finished dressing himself. They had never married, but had been lovers for over a decade. It was Curio’s insatiable desire for sex that kept the two from ever committing to each other. Oh, they could have tried it, she thought to her self. But she knew she would never be able to trust Curio’s wandering eye. And since he had endless power, as Praetor, his constant urge for sexual fulfillment would have caused him to stray.

And, Nor’vra thought, with a smile on her face, her own insatiable desires would have also caused her to stray as well.

“Was not that Centurion who just left your room even too young for you?” Nor’vra asked in a coy way.

“They can never be too young,” Curio replied in his own coy way. “You of all people should know, Nor’vra, for I have heard you have had him in your bed as well. Strength, such as his, makes me feel young as well.”

“I agree,” she said with a knowing glance at him. The Centurion, who had just left the room, had an almost untamed animalistic sexual drive. Their encounters had left her sore for days.

They both came out of his private bedroom and over to the massive breakfast table in his office. Several fruit items had already been plated for their routine morning meeting. They had a routing morning meeting because Curio trusted no one more than he trusted Nor’vra. She had always been one of his closest military sources even when he had been just one of the lowly Senators in the Romulan Senate back on their now destroyed home world of Romulas.

“Our visit to our once proud Capital was very illuminating,” Nor’vra said as she began to eat her plate of fruit.

“Yes, it was,” Curio said to her. “The crowds greeted us like those of the ancient Pharos,” Curio said. “It is clear they the people here on Earth have been so long without pure leadership that they are begging for someone to guide them.”

“That someone should be you, my lord.” Nor’vra said. “Yet our agreement with the Earthlings, and the Federation, precludes you from even trying.”

“As I told you before,” Curio said, “I do not need to beg for power; I believe with the proper words, they will hand this world over to us.” Curio took a deep breath, and continued. “Perhaps, at this time, I should show you something, something that no mere Military advisor should see.”

Nor’vra sensed the mysterious tone in Curio’s voice.

“Come with me,” Curio said as he walked back into his private room.

Nor’vra put down her fruit and followed Curio into his room. He walked over to the massive wall of his room. Curio pressed a hidden button, and suddenly the wall opened up to show a row of hidden drawers. They were carved from pure gold, and were obviously very old.

“I have never seen these kind of drawers before, accept in the ancient drawings.” Nor’vra said to him. “When did you have them installed?”

“Recently,” he told her. “They can only be accessed with a special code.”

“What’s inside of them?” she asked.

“As all Romulan children are taught from their first days in school, nearly three-thousand years ago, our ancestors were taken from this world, Earth, which our ancestors, the Romans, called Sol.” Curio told her. “When they were taken, the these golden drawers, and more importantly their contents, were brought with them.” He pushed a button and the center drawer slid open. Inside of it was an ancient tablet, carved in stone.

“This tablet comes from the ancient times?” Nor’vra asked ...

Two helicopters landed in a clearing in the middle of the thick forest that surrounded the northern edge of the Rocky Mountains. It was from this clearing that, in decades in the past, loggers would prep the trucks that would take their stacks of trees for processing at one of the nearby mills. After the John Denver act of 2026, logging and deforestation were outlawed by the North/South American Pact.

Nearly twenty men, armed to the teeth with guns, and tracking gear, dropped out of the helicopters. They had been sent to capture an infant, alive, and if possible, the infant’s father as well, he either dead or alive. They all knew who the father was; James T Kirk, United Space Program hero, and now the face of the new Starfleet Command and Earth’s entry into the exploration of space. But that did not matter to this band of trained killers.

Weary of Roads

These commandoes were part of covert military operation called Section-31 that was originally started under the very watchful eye of former Vice-President Dick Cheney, nearly fifty years in the past. Cheney was privy, even in the early 2000s, to outer-space alien activity. And worried that someday a united Earth might venture into space, Cheney had created Section-31 to protect United States of America’s interests. The current runner of that program, Sloan, knew that the survival of Section-31 rested in the ability to find the infant David Marcus, who was known to possess powers of an almost god-like state. At the age of eighteen months, David did not have the ability to hone his powers, which is why Sloan wanted him. Sloan wanted to mold the mind of the infant, and make David one of ‘them’; one of Section-31’s assets. After careful planning, and the abduction of David from his adoptive movie, now only James T Kirk stood in the way of Sloan’s plans.

The commandoes, who worked for Sloan, fanned out into the thick forest. Acting on scans provided by Sloan, the commandoes pretty much knew in the general area of the forest where Kirk was making his way. With another team landing five miles to the west of the first team of commandoes, another team was working their way east. Kirk, and his child, were somewhere with in that five mile net, and would be eventually be surrounded.

Another, smaller chopper, landed in the clearing as well, and along with the pilot, it had two passengers; a man and a woman. Sloan, the man who ran Section-31, was wearing a thick leather jacket, as well as dark shades over his eyes. His assistant was the very beautiful woman who went by the designation of Attendant. She wore a skin tight leather cat suit, as well as a red over coat.

“Do you think these grunts will bring the baby back alive?” the Attendant asked. “If they don’t, I hope you’ll let me torture these marines of yours if they fail. I have a bully-club that I could stick up their…”

“They will do their jobs,” Sloan assured her, “and they will bring the baby back alive. And yes, if you’re wondering, I’ll find someone else for you to torture.”

She licked her lips at the thought.

“I like the sound of that,” she said in a playful way.

San Francisco; Starfleet Command

Commodore Robau was brought into the main tactical center by one of the Andorian duty officers. The Andorian’s name was Shran. Robau looked at the Shran, with the two antennas that were part of his forehead, and had to remind him self that this was the dawning of a new age. There weren’t many aliens staffing the Starfleet compound on Earth, but their numbers were growing.

“I thought you would want to see this,” Commander Shran said to Robau. “There seems to be some sort of military operation taking place in this area.”

Shran pointed to one of the tactical screens that had an overlay of North America on it. Three blips, representing helicopters, could be seen near the Rocky Mountains.

“Perhaps this is out of Starfleet’s jurisdiction,” Shran added, “however; there were no Earth centric operations scheduled in this area as well.”

“That is odd,” Robau replied. “Have you tried to communicate with them?”

“Affirmative,” came the reply from a female Vulcan who manned the communications post, which was situated on a row of consoles near to where Robau and Shran were standing. “We have tried all assigned frequencies for native-Earth communication protocols.”

“Their lack of reply,” Shran continued, “was why I thought it best to bring this up to you.”

Robau understood why. Starfleet, which was part of the Federation, to Earth had only recently joined, didn’t want to be seen interfering with an internal Earth issue. Even though Earth was unified under one flag, there were still remnants of old nation state issues of pride.

“Go ahead and send an investigation team,” Robau said. “Just to make the situation more smoothly, make sure it’s an all human team.”

“My thoughts exactly,” Shran said. “The team is already set to for launch.”

Robau smiled at knowing they were both on the same page.

Jim Kirk was out of breath...

What amazed Jim Kirk the most, as he was hiding for his life, while trying to get he and his son to safety out of the thick Rocky Mountain forest, was how quiet his son had remained. It wasn’t as if his son David was sleeping, the little infant was actually awake, and at times, softly giggling. It seemed as if little David understood the importance of staying quiet.

Giant

However, Kirk knew their time was running out. The cold of the night was making it harder to keep running. With his strength running low, Kirk decided to hide at the end of a group of dead trees, that also offered him a good vantage point of low lying area he climbed up from. And then, as he peered out past the logs, he saw the first of his pursuers. It was a lone commando, and he was clad in camouflage. He was moving slowly between several trees, with an assault rifle held at the ready. Kirk could not tell from what branch of the military the soldier was from. With Earth now part of the intergalactic Federation, and its Starfleet, Kirk could only wonder for what organization the commando worked with.

Thankfully, Kirk had very good eyes, which had served him just fine through out his career. And as he looked at the commando, Kirk realized that he, Kirk, had already made his first mistake; leaving the Mickey Mouse play phone further up the hill earlier. As he watched the young soldier speak into a radio, Kirk was dead sure that others like him were making their way to this position in the forest. Suddenly the commando began to look in the general area where Kirk was hiding with his son.

Kirk slowly lowered himself into the outcropping of dead trees. It seemed as if he and David had ran out of time. Kirk pressed lower to the dirt ground, which had been covered by the trunks of the dead trees, all the while smiling at his son. Kirk heard the small snapping of a branch from further down the hill, knowing that the commando was moving closer to Kirk’s position. Kirk could only hold his breath, and then, without warning, the soldier stuck his head into the opening where Kirk and his son were laying.

“Get out of there,” said the grunt of African descent. He had a name that was labeled Anderson. “If you make just one wrong move and I’ll blow your head off,” the man said as he aimed his assault rifle down at the opening where Kirk was.

“Alright,” Kirk said. “Just don’t hurt my son.”

“Your son is the only reason why you’re still alive,” the man said with a sneer. “But trust me, Captain America, the moment I don’t need you, you will die; do I make myself clear?”

“Understood,” Kirk said. “Just let me get him.” Kirk said as he ran out of options.

As Kirk looked away from his antagonist, and slid back into the covering of tree trunks where David was on the ground, covered by the trees as well, he heard the commando speak into a radio device.

“Anderson here,” the soldier said into his radio, “I was mistaken; Kirk is not in this quadrant of the forest. I am moving out toward the section L-5.”

Kirk wondered why the soldier was not telling the truth. Kirk picked up his son, and crawled out of the opening and was shocked at what he saw. The soldier, Anderson, was on the ground, dead. His neck had clearly been snapped in two. And then Kirk saw why the soldier was dead; towering above the dead commando was the strangest looking man Kirk had ever seen. Somehow, someway, Kirk deduced, the large man had mimicked Anderson’s voice.

The man was, as best Kirk could tell from his vantage point inside the opening of the trunks, at least eight feet tall. He was bald, and wore a strange metallic robe, with jet white skin, with a very pronounced jaw. The huge man reached down, and grasping Kirk by the shoulder, he lifted Kirk, who was holding David in his arms, out of the opening, and set them both down. And then the monster of a man leered down at Kirk and said one word with such a deep voice, it made the ground tremble.

“Ruuuuuuuuk.”

--
Three of the commandos were converging on the area where Anderson had been searching. When he had checked in, Anderson (of course actually Ruk) had not used the proper code. They knew instantly that someone had no doubt captured Anderson, and forced him to check in; but did not know the proper code had not been used.

CHARACTER ROLL CALL

STAR TREK;
Sector-001
Character Roll Call

--
General Christopher Pike
Recently promoted to General by Earth President Harsh Jadhav; even though Earth has just joined the Federation, it has already become a major player in the military side of Federation operations. With Vulcan Ambassador Sarek’s highest praise, Pike has risen through the ranks of Starfleet, and has taken on a major role. Pike is seen as a father figure to James T Kirk.

President Harsha Jadhav
After Earth became united under one flag, President Jadhav was elected to rule the first world-wide government body. Now that Earth has joined the Federation, President Jadhav has taken on the additional role as Earth’s representative in the Federation High Council.

Romulan Praetor Curio
With the total destruction of the Romulan home world, only three hundred thousand Romulans, who were all off world, and many of them in the Romulan military, survive. Curio was a Romulan Senator who was able to escape the destruction of Romulas by mere seconds, became the highest ranking member of the Romulan Government, and thus has taken on the role of Praetor. His ambition to rule, and his insatiable sexual desires, which include men and women, make him a most interesting character.

Romulan Military Advisor Nor’vra
Some time lover of Curio, she is so called ‘right hand’ man. They have known each other ever since he was a lowly member of the Senate. Curio trusts her with his life, and she will do anything to keep that trust.

Captain James T Kirk
Kirk was aboard the USS Enterprise when it was thrown into the Delta-Quadrant, which is decades away by normal Starship speeds. In recent story events, Kirk’s son, David Marcus, an eighteen month old child, brought Kirk back to Earth. As of now, Kirk’s return to Earth is only known by the covert ops organization, Section-31, which is trying to kill him and gain possession of Kirk’s child for its own nefarious intents.

David Marcus
The eighteen month old son of Kirk; David’s mother was murdered not long after his birth. Along with many others, David was killed when an Asteroid fragment struck an island off the coast of Australia. Nearly two months later, David was brought back to life by the seemingly omnipotent Gary Mitchell. In time it would be discovered that David Marcus, though just an infant, had extraordinary abilities, such as the ability to conjure up thoughts into reality. Presently, it is believed that David Marcus is dead, again. The child was abducted by a man named Sloan, and evidence was planted to make it appear as if the child was killed, along with his adoptive mother, General Pike’s sister, in a car accident. Pike’s sister was killed, and it was believed by all that David had perished as well. But it is becoming abundantly clear that just like his father, James T Kirk, young David Marcus is proving to be a very elusive person traversing the so called river of life!

Gary Mitchell
Many eons ago, a metaphysical being called a Remnant came to exist inside the atmosphere of Neptune. A fragment of that being came to Earth, and through as of yet unknown events, came to be part of Gary Mitchell’s essence. Mitchell was unaware of his unique history, but would find out as strange powers began to manifest inside of him. He would also come to find that with these powers came an almost evil ambition. He has since evolved into a higher life form, and it is unclear if he is still evil, or, somewhere between good and evil.

Trelane
Another omnipotent being, who is trying to gain entry into a league of omnipotent beings which call themselves the Continuum. Trelane is almost child like, and seems to be barred by a higher authority from out right interfering in galactic concerns. He has recently met Gary Mitchell, and it appears that the two of them are involved with a game against destiny, which is played out on a nearly omnipotent, universal stage. Apparently David Marcus is a player in this game as well, but as of yet, is undefined.

John Gill.
John Gill is a former American Senator, who was against the world government as it began to take form. Unable to stop it from happening, as well as Earth’s joining the Federation, Gill has a new plan to take over the world. The current John Gill is actually an android duplicate of the original man named John Gill. Shortly before his death (he controlled the island off the coast of Australia which was struck by the asteroid fragment) the biological Gill had his memories, his very existence it would seem, downloaded into the duplicate android body, which was created by Roger Corby. Gill’s new plan for world domination is to replace important humans with androids, as well as other galactic leaders, and eventually use his androids to take over the universe. (Yeah, he’s a nut job)

Roger Corby
Not much is known about Corby, and how he became associated with Gill. We do know that he is constructing the androids that will take over the universe, eventually, he hopes. But what is Corby’s origion? And was he constructing androids before his association with John Gill? Unknown to Gill, Corby has indeed created other androids, one of which escaped and is somewhere in the northern areas of the United States; a massive android named Ruk.

Ambassador Sarek
Sarek is the Vulcan representative of the Federation, and very good friend to both President Jadhav and General Pike. Sarek is married to a Romulan woman named Amanda. Their son Spock (who will be further detailed in the Star Trek: USS Enterprise Roll Call) is lost, along with the rest of the Enterprise crew, in the far off Delta-Quadrant. Sarek is very proud of his world, and enjoys Romulan ale on occasion. Unknown to his friends, Sarek has been replaced by one of Corby’s androids, and is being held captive inside John Gill’s secret underground lair in Montana. The androids chief mission is to kill Romulan Praetor Curio, which could cause a war, and the end of Earth’s association with the Federation, which is John Gill’s ultimate aim, before attempting to take over the world.

Sloan
The last covert organization of the former United States of America is still functioning. It is called Section-31, and was created fifty years in the past by former Vice-President Dick Cheney. The organization was tasked with protecting vital American interest from alien threats, and now is doing so on behalf of Earth. Led by a merciless man, Sloan, and his sexually/twisted and ruthless aide, a woman named Attendant, will stop at nothing to protect Earth’s legacy. Earlier in the events of this story, it was made apparent that Sloan had an uneasy alliance with John Gill. It is not known right now if that alliance is still active.

Reginald Barclay
He is not only the world’s greatest WOW player, but he is also considered the Stephen Hawking, or Albert Einstein, of his time. Starfleet has secretly employed the eccentric scientist to find the means to bring the Enterprise home. Recently, Barclay had a breakthrough. Though, at this point, it has not been revealed as to what it was.

End of Roll Call.

Just as he had been told he would, General Pike found one of the satellite science laboratories, located on the bottom floor of the Starfleet Complex in San Francisco bay, had a most interesting décor. Posters of scantily clad women adorned the walls, and discarded trash, mainly packages of eaten food, and soda cans, lined the floor. The two men who worked in the lab may have been Earth’s brightest scientists; but as for cleanliness? It didn’t exist. It was also clear that the two men had no idea how to play basketball due to the hundreds of balled-up pieces of paper, and cans, that surrounded the almost empty trash cans. How anyone could work in such conditions amazed Pike.

But General Pike had not rushed back to San Francisco, while he was already on his way to visit his good friend Ambassador Sarek, who lived all the way in France, for just an ordinary work space inspection. An abrupt message sent to Pike from Admiral Cartwright, hinted that a breakthrough had possibly been made; contact with the USS Enterprise, lost in the far off Delta-Quadrant, was, perhaps, just days from happening.

The Kayaking Brigade

As General Pike walked deeper into the chaotic work lab, he heard a strange sound. He peered over one of the long work counters, and on the other side of it, on the ground, was the strangest site. Two grown men, one who he recognized as Reginald Barclay, were sitting inside of a Kayak, in their swimsuits, talking turns trying to row their waterless Kayak with their ores, while making swooshing noises, and pretending to dodge unseen rocks that were floating towards them, and then around them, as they rowed through the unseen river they rode.

It was clear, just looking at the two, they both needed to be put out of their miseries. If he had his gun, Pike might have done the honor. No man should have to live like that, Pike thought. But then again; they were scientists. It was common knowledge that people such as they, scientists who tried to unlock the secrets of the universe, didn’t actually run on all thrusters, when it came to being normal behaving human beings.

Barclay, who was wearing a scuba mask as well, turned and looked up at the General.

“Sir,” Barclay said enthusiastically, “Do you want to join us? We’re about to go over a waterfall.”

“No,” Pike said with a warm smile. “Not this time,” he added. “Do you think you could paddle over to the shoreline and let me know about the breakthrough that you told Admiral Cartwright about?”

“Oh yeah,” Barclay said, “sure.”

Barclay reached out and tapped the other man, his Kayaking partner, who was a Latino looking man named Martin Castillo, on his back.

“WHAT!” Castillo demanded as if the loudness of the waterfall the Kayak approached (yes, imaginary as it was) was getting too loud, and drowned out all other noise.

“Take us over to the rock canyon,” Barclay said.

“WHAT???” Castillo repeated, tapping his ears as if he could barely hear anything Barclay was saying.

Barclay pointed to where General Pike stood in an over-the-top manner. Castillo nodded, as if finally understanding what Barclay wanted.

The two men paddled their Kayak until it was more to the side of the carpeted walkway, which was also doubling as the Colorado River.

Pike wanted to shake his head in total dumbfounded disbelief, but didn’t want to offend the two eclectic men. He watched as they both reached for towels that were resting on the work table, and pretended to dry off. Looking at them, Pike doubted either one of them had ever kissed a girl, or even seen one, in DECADES.

Meanwhile, in the heart of the Rocky Mountain Forest, James Kirk was holding his infant son, and was also standing next to a towering creature that seemed to have the name of Ruk.

“Can you understand me?” Kirk asked.

“RUK, UNDERSTAND HUUUUMAN.” Ruk said. “SAVE THE LITTLE ONE FROM THE AGGRESSOR.” Ruk said, looking at the dead body of the soldier.

Kirk couldn’t tell if Ruk was referring to him as the little one, which Kirk was, standing next to Ruk, or David.

“Thank you,” Kirk replied. “I do not know why this man,” Kirk said as he motioned at the dead soldier’s body, “and the others like him are trying to hurt me and my son. Who are you? Why are you here?”

“RUK COMES FROM THE BEFORE TIME,” Ruk said. “RUK NOT REMEMBER WHY HE CAME TO BE HERE.”

As Kirk spoke with the massive creature, he also knew that he and David had to keep running. He was sure that the dead soldier’s friends would soon be on their way.

“We have to keep moving,” Kirk said to Ruk. “There are others, and they will come.”

“I WILL STOP THEM, HUUUMAN.” Ruk said.

Suddenly, and without warning, Kirk heard gunshots...

The balled up piece of paper was heading towards the small office sized, circular shaped trash receptacle, in the corner of the office. When General Pike had crumbled the piece of paper up, at the urging of the very strange scientist name Martin Castillo, who along with the equally strange Reginald Barclay, worked at the lab, Pike dismissed the challenge to land the piece of paper in the can as nothing but child’s play; or more aptly, a complete was of the General’s time.

The Entomalia’s Gonad

Special thanks to BolianAdmiral for his help in technical creation and, more important, explanation. The character Martin Castillo is created in his honor and, for those who remember, the name of Edward James Olmos’s character on the 80s TV show called Miami Vice; great show!!! Don’t worry, no alligators in this story!

As the piece of paper arced and headed straight for the trash can, which was situated ten feet from where Pike had thrown it, the piece of paper over shot the can, and missed. Pike, as the paper approached the can, noticed a light push in mid air, by an unseen fan, which had been positioned in a blind spot on the other side of the desk from where Pike had been sitting.

“Alright,” Pike said to the two eclectic scientists. “I get it. The fan, which I didn’t see, was blowing a current of air across the target zone. And this is your breakthrough?” Pike was not impressed.

“Sir,” Castillo said, “you did correctly see that fan over there,” Castillo said, “Which was also aimed at the trash area, and correctly adjusted for the current you perceived the fan was creating. The other hidden fan pushed its own current slightly adjusted to the right of the fan. What you can’t see, with the naked eye, is how those two currents combine, and created a new wave of air.”

“We got the idea,” Barclay said, “from kayaking at the Grand Canyon last Saturday. The effect is akin to rowing a light kayak down a fast-moving river, which is, in essence, what Kayaking is. A Kayak, or canoe, is fast, in a relative way, when compared to swimming down the river. Yet, even the swimmer will accelerate to an incredible speed just by being in the current. What happens, if when the kayak has reached its maximum speed, and then suddenly, you give it the motor of a top of the line speedboat just as you go over a waterfall? ”

“When a river approaches a waterfall, General” Castillo said, taking over for Barclay, “it actually slows its rate. The motor of the boat would take it out of the gradual regulated speed by the relative slowing down of the current and…”

“It would fly?” Pike asked suddenly.

“Exactly,” Barclay said, “it, the boat, would momentarily fly before falling over the waterfall, and smash on the rocks below, killing anyone who was left in the boad. The trick is to keep the regulating speed factor a constant. The piece of paper you threw, when it hit the second flow of wind, it flew on past the can as expected. What you can’t see is that a buffer zone of wind, very slight, waved out back toward you, by the second fan. The piece of paper not only sped up, it actually sped up outside the flow of the wind.”

“Which means what? I mean this all sounds like a some nutty grade-school science project to me.” Pike asked, feeling very proud that he guessed correctly that the boat would fly, and fall over a waterfall. As if that was some big deal, when really, any kid could have made the guess.

“Sir,” Barclay said, “We believe that we can do the same thing with a subspace signal, and in theory, someday, a subspace warp field.” Barclay said.

“Even if you could get a signal to the Delta-quadrant, how would that signal,” Pike countered, “find the Enterprise?”

“Well,” Castillo said as he opened up a Ding-Dong, thrown to him by Barclay, “the signal would both enter and exit as a regular subspace transmission. When it flies, for lack of a better word, over the subspace tunnel, it will then re-enter regular space, and theoretically, the Enterprise, provided it still has the ability to receive subspace signals, would receive the signal tuned to that frequency.”

“How long until you can do this?” General Pike asked.

“Well,” Barclay said, “we didn’t think we had the hardware until we met…”

Suddenly the door to the lab opened and a strange alien, breathing vapor from a device situated in front of his face, which was looked roughly amphibian to Pike, came in.

“His name is Mendon,” Castillo said, “He is what they call a Benzite. He’s part of the Federation Science Department exchange program.”

“Hello,” Mendon said as he came in. “I found the last box of Twinkies. They were on the medical level.”

“We have alien visitors,” Pike said, with a twinge of embarrassment in his voice, “and you have him fetching Twinkies?”

“It was his turn,” Barclay said. “Anyway, as it turns out, he has been working on a device that may be able to help us target a signal at the point of the event-horizon that a signal enters subspace and allow it to fly over subspace. I think we can try sending a signal in about a week”

Pike was about to say something when suddenly he was distracted by a strange shimmering affect on the other side of the lab.

David Marcus smiled up at the nurse who was in the middle of doing a routine check-up on him. She had checked him for any injuries he may have received while on the run with his father. She smiled down at the baby who just kept giggling up at her.

From outside the room, General Christopher Pike and Captain James T Kirk observed the nurse through the window that looked in on the pediatric nursing lab. Content that David was being well cared for, Kirk and Pike headed over to the waiting room, and sat down. They each held a cup of coffee. Both men were tired, but that didn’t stop them from sharing a conversation. The coffee didn’t hurt either.

“So let me get this straight,” Pike said, “You were on the Enterprise, and the next thing you knew, you were in the back of that 16-wheeler?” Pike asked as he sipped his coffee. “Tell me about that.”

Kirk nodded, and sipped on his own coffee.

“Yep,” Kirk said, “just like that. Probably no different than when that Trelane character brought you to the Delta-quadrant.”

“Actually,” Pike said, “Trelane and I traveled by ship. The journey took about two minutes, which is still pretty fast, but David pulled you back here, from clear across the galaxy, with a just a mere, instantly.”

“The Enterprise,” Kirk said as he thought for a moment. “They have no idea where I am, they probably think I’m dead.”

“Spock is far too smart for that,” Pike said. “I’m sure he’ll figure it out in time.”

“I’m so sorry about Caroline,” Kirk said. “They killed her to get their hands on David. I hope Mark will be okay. I’ll go head and call him so he doesn’t worry about David’s well being.”

Pike shook his head.

“Jim, for now, I don’t want you to make that call. I talked to Mark about an hour ago. He’s doing fine, but I didn’t tell him yet that David was found unharmed. Before we go public with that fact, I got the President to sign an executive order allowing Star Fleet to monitor all communications, both front door and back door variety. Someone went through great lengths to find out where Caroline would be, and then shadowed her movements, set up the gas-rig to ram her car and make her death appear to be an accident, and then planted evidence at the scene to make it appear as if David was killed along with her.”

“Do you suspect Mark?” Kirk asked. “Chris, Mark and I had our political differences, I mean, who didn’t, but I would never suspect him of killing his wife, and being part of some conspiracy to kidnap David.”

“I’m not saying that at all,” Pike said. “But I think its best that we keep all our options open for now. Jim, you need to see the bigger picture?”

“I see it; you’re afraid they may try again,” Kirk concluded.

“Exactly,” Pike said. “Now, how did you escape from certain capture by those men in the forest?”

“I thought we were at the end,” Kirk said. “Then, from out of nowhere, that massive creature, who calls him self Ruk, appeared and saved us. Chris, you gave me your word it wouldn’t be hurt.”

“He’s being analyzed over at the Daystrom Annex. Richard Daystrom is heading the team.” Pike said. “If it is some kind of android, or other robotic construct, he’ll be the one who will know.”

“What about the men who were coming for David and me? What happened with them?” Kirk asked.

“Well,” Pike said, “That is the other reason I had the President sign that order to allow Star Fleet to monitor all communications. All eighteen men we captured had cyanide capsules implanted in their mouths, in case they were captured.”

“They’re all dead?” Kirk asked in a shocked tone.

“All dead. And I am sure that they were just doing their duty; they had to have answered to a higher authority.” Pike confirmed. “Now you see why I am concerned. There are unknown elements out there that seem to believe that your son David, and more to the point, his powers, can be controlled. You’re very return is a further example as to how powerful David’s ability may be, and explains why some are willing to kill for the ability to control them. So, Jim, how does it feel to be the father of a God?”

“Well,” Kirk began to say when suddenly there was a flash in the room.

Kirk and Pike looked over to where the flash came from and saw two men. One of the men they both knew very well. He was once Jim Kirk’s best friend, and the man who had brought David Marcus back to life; Gary Mitchell. The other man was actually just barely an adult, and was someone whom Pike had already met before; his name was Trelane.

Richard Daystrom walked into the room where Ruk had been taken to. The massive creature stared down at Daystrom.

“Yooooou,” Ruk’s deep voice rumbled, “yooooou are the other.” Ruk continued.

“Really,” Daystrom said. “You know who I am?”

Ruk thought for a moment, and then he replied.

“Yeeeeeesss,” Ruk said, “I have your image imprint in my mind.”

Another assistant, Dr. Lewis Gregg, came over to Daystrom.

“An android,” Gregg said. “The tests are conclusive. But sir,” Gregg said to Daystrom, “it’s far beyond anything anyone could make here on Earth.”

Daystrom shook his head.

“Maybe not,” Daystrom said softly.

Kirk and Pike were NOT amused.

GODS

“What are you doing here?” Kirk asked as he and Pike both stood up to confront the two omnipotent beings.

“Is that any way to talk to a friend?” Mitchell asked with a smile.

“I don’t know what you are now, Gary,” Kirk said coldly, “but you’re no friend of mine.”

“Hey,” Mitchell said in his only cold way, “I brought David back to life, so why don’t you cut some fucking slack?”

“Yeah, you did Gary, I’ll give you that. But now there are nuts out there who are willing to kill, anyone, to get him so they can control not only him, but his powers.” Kirk said. “Is that the kind of life he will have to live? A pariah of danger for those around him, and cost the lives of people like Caroline?” Kirk asked, knowing that Gary knew Caroline (Pike’s dead sister, who was killed in a pervious episode while trying to keep David Marcus safe; she failed.)

Mitchell’s face betrayed a small glimmer of guilt.

“I didn’t know he would come back with powers like my own.” Mitchell said. “But he did, and now it’s too late to do anything about that.”

“Then why are you here?” Pike asked Mitchell.

“Its good to see you too,” Mitchell said, sarcastically, to Pike.

“We are here,” Trelane said, before Mitchell and Pike could continue with the barbs, “to take the child.”

With that, Kirk punched Mitchell, smashing his former friend into the table next to where they stood. Mitchelle’s eyes glowed momentarily, and then went back to normal. Still on the ground, rubbing his chin, Mitchell looked up to Kirk.

“Does that make you feel better; punching God?” Mitchell asked softly.

“You are not taking my son,” Kirk said with anger. “He brought me all the way here from the Delta-quadrant with just a simple thought because he was scared. I will not abandon him again. Gods or no Gods, I won’t let you take him!”

“Jim,” Pike said with a slight smile. “They could have taken him without letting us know, and they didn’t. I don’t think they can take David without your permission.”

“How perceptive,” Trelane said as Mitchell stood back up. “But I assure you, the humans who are after your child are nothing compared to the galactic forces that will be out to get him as well. The only way to keep him truly safe is by letting him go with us.”

“How do we know,” Pike said, “that you’re here to take David so he can’t be used against you, by either us, or these galactic forces you speak of?”

“I guess you’ll just have to trust us.” Mitchell said to Kirk.

“Is there some kind of law,” Pike said, “a universal law that says you just can’t take him without permission? Is this freewill at work?”

“You might say that,” Trelane said. “But believe me,” Trelane said, “there are forces in the universe, like the Borg, whom I showed you the last time we met General Pike, that would take that child and use his powers to destroy this universe, if they could; and they would be able to. That is how powerful the child could become, over time.”

“Why now?” Kirk asked. “Its not like he got these powers just yesterday.”

“Because,” Mitchell said, still rubbing his jaw, “when he brought you back from the Delta-quadrant it was like sending a flare up in the dark sky. It made him noticeable to the rest of the universe.”

“Where would you take him?” Pike asked.

“A place that exists outside time and space,” Trelane said. “He will be safe there until he can learn to control his powers and defend himself.” Trelane told them. “Here, on Earth, untrained, he could accidentally destroy your world with a simple thought. Even you have to be aware of this.”

Kirk and Pike knew that what Trelane said was somewhat true.

“I would want to see him,” Kirk said. “And if he wanted to see me, you would have to let him see me.”

“We would try our best. But for that to happen, you, Kirk, would have to come outside time and space yourself; such a journey could kill you.” Trelane said.

“I’ll take my chances,” Kirk said softly.

“Since we’re all being nice here,” Pike said, “why not bring the Enterprise back?”

“We can’t,” Trelane said.

“Wait,” Kirk said, “you can waltz in here, take my son, and yet you can’t send our friends home?”

“Its that universal law, isn’t it?” Pike asked.

“Yes,” Trelane said. “Mister Pike here has set a chain of events in motion that must now be played out.”

“Then send me back,” Kirk said. “Send me back to the Enterprise.”

“We can’t do that either,” Trelane said. “By bringing you back here as he did, your son violated that universal law you keep mentioning. It was an unplanned event that has now weaved its way through the fabric of the universes, and can not be undone.”

Treland snapped his fingers, and David Marcus suddenly appeared in Kirk’s arms.

“I’m sorry it has to be this way Jim,” Mitchell said as Kirk handed David over to Trelane. “I know you hate me, and I understand, but I promise you that I will not let any harm come to David; I give you my word.”

“You have my word too, and,” Trelane said, “you will now see why that promise is important to have than Mister Mitchell’s.”

Pike arched an eyebrow, a habit he had picked up from being around Sarek so much, at Trelane’s final words.

Suddenly there was a bright flash; and when the blinding light faded, there was a surprising twist. Trelane and David Marcus were gone; but Mitchell remained.

“What the hell…” Mitchell said in shock, and then instantly there was another flash and Mitchell was gone.

“What the hell was that all about? What happened to Gary?” Pike wondered.

“I hope he went straight to hell.” Kirk replied.

“Lets go get a beer,” Pike said. “I need one; badly.”

Kirk thought of David, and could only hope that Trelane would keep his word. If there were indeed galactic forces out to get David, going with Trelane, until such time David was older, was the best of bad choices he had to chose from.

Kirk and Pike headed out of the medical complex, and towards the city of San Francisco to share a beer.

The underground lair of John Gill

John Gill had once been an American senator, but that was almost life time ago. He had been against America joining the new united world government that came out of the new United Nations charter. He believed that a peaceful organization would be under minded by man kind’s ambitions. He believed humanity needed to be controlled by the heel of a boot, not with a compassionate heart. Man kind, in Gill’s theory, was an animal as much as a dog was, and that the humans with the most aggressive behavior traits were meant to rule the lesser humans.

Poetry in Motion

As it was, John Gill had actually died nearly two years in the past, but moments before his death, he had his essence, his memories, transferred to an android duplicate constructed by a revolutionary scientist named Roger Corby. Gill’s knew theory was that androids, which he had now become, were destined to rule not only Earth, but the rest of the universe. To that end, he had replaced Ambassador Sarek with an android duplicate, as well as Sarek’s Vuclan doctor, Sovor.

Finally, after so much planning, the day had come. The Sarek android had been released from the hospital in recent day, and still under the watchful eye of fellow android, Dr. Sovor.

And now, later in the day, in what would be yet another media event, the Romulan Praetor Curio would be making the trek from the Romulan colony located off the coast of Florida, to the Star Fleet complex in San Francisco bay. And, if everything went according to plan, Sarek will assassinate Curio. Gill did not like the Romulan presence on Earth, and once it was removed, Gill would tackle the next part of his plan; replacing the Earth leadership, and then the Federation leadership as well, with duplicate androids.

--
The control center of the underground lair was staffed by Roger Corby and two assistants. It was from the control room that Corby could monitor the two androids, Sarek and Sovor, and when the time came, send the command order for the Sarek android to kill Curio.

The real Sarek and Dr. Sovor sat in the observation deck, which was located above the control room but could observe it via a row of observation windows. Sarek and Sovor sat with John Gill.

“This is the day gentlemen,” Gill said to his two guests. “If it all goes according to play, your doppelganger will kill Curio. The resulting chaos will push the Romulans off of this world which they never should have been invited to come to in the first place.”

“Have you allowed for the possibility,” Sarek said, “that your actions could cause a war. The Romulan fleet is much more powerful than Earth’s fleet.”

“Yes,” Gill admitted, “you are right about that. But thankfully we have the Federation and its Star Fleet to save us from Romulan reprisal.”

“What if the Federation,” Sarek added, “sides with the Romulans?”

Gill thought about that possibility, his own android mind going through several rows of mathematical predictions.

“Though that is a possibility,” Gill allowed, “the statistical probability precludes it from happening. The Federation forces will defeat the Romulans, and vanquish them into the history books of the universe.”

“How poetic,” Dr. Sovor said, “however, the loss of life that will occur betrays your so called ambition for universal control.”

“An acceptable loss of biological numbers,” Gill said, “is just a small sacrifice to pay, if it should lead to a universe that is controlled and measured.”

“Illogical,” Sarek said.

“We shall see,” Gill said. “In five Earth hours Curio will be arriving in San Francisco, and then my so called ambition for universal control will be set into motion.”

If the chance came, Sarek thought to himself, he and Sovor would have to find a way to change the current conditions. The balance of power in the galactic neighborhood was being challenged by the demented goals of the John Gill android. Gill had to be stopped and Sarek was prepared to risk his life to stop him.

In The Way

The Vulcan Ambassador’s residence was on the thirty-seventh floor of the habitat complex. Amanda, Sarek’s wife, was standing on the balcony looking out upon the city of Paris in the near distance. The very proud Eiffel Tower could be seen, as she sipped on a cup of Green herb tea.

Being Sarek’s wife hadn’t always been easy on Amanda, over the years. Sarek’s diplomatic duties had required him to leave Vulcan for many long periods of time throughout their marriage. The fact they had even found enough time to have a child was a testimony to the love they felt for each other.

When their son became joined with the Earth created android called S.P.O.C.K., it had a profound effect not only Spock, but Sarek as well. Spock, as they now called their son, was to have followed in Sarek’s footsteps. But now, with his mind fused with the android’s unique existence, their son now wanted to follow a career path in Star Fleet. Sarek had even tried a Vulcan mind-meld to separate his son’s mind from the android’s matrix, but it could not be done.

Recently Sarek’s role as Ambassador took on a more important role. He had brokered the deal that brought the Romulans back to Earth, where they had actually originated from, thousands of years in the past. Amanda herself was actually Romulan, meaning she descended from humans who had left Earth and had, eventually, founded the Romulan Star Empire.

During the last three years, Sarek had also suffered health issues, including a heart-bypass that almost left him dead. Thanks to the doctors on Vulcan, Sarek was saved, but still was at risk, someday, of having another incident. And in the past couple days it appeared as though his heart issues had come.

Nearly a week ago, moments after meeting Amanda in Sydney Australia for dinner, Sarek suffered a minor incident related to his heart. Eventually he was taken back to their residence at the Federation complex in France. Sarek’s personal doctor, Sovor, tended to Sarek, and was able to give medicines to the proud Vulcan ambassador that stabilized his situation.

(Author’s note; of course savvy readers know that Sarek was, at that time, replaced by an android duplicate, and so was his doctor, with the intent of killing the Romulan Praetor. The real Sarek/Sovor are being held captive at an underground lair in Montana b John Gill)

But as Amanda stared at the Eiffel Tower in the distance, she was conflicted in her mind. In the past several days since Sarek’s return to Paris, Doctor Sovor had limited access to Sarek, claiming that the Vulcan Ambassador needed his rest before his scheduled visit to San Francisco to meet with the Romulan Praetor.

And even though the Praetor, Curio, had died only a day ago of a massive heart-attack himself, his successor, acting-Romulan Praetor Nor’vra, a Romulan woman and close advisor to Curio, was determined to come to Star Fleet command for a tour of the facility.

In the short time she had spent with Sarek in the past few days, she felt as if he had become distant from her. She allowed for the possibility it might have been Sarek’s fatigue from his own health scare, but it was more than that. Amanda knew her husband very well. It was as if he was Sarek, but wasn’t. She had put in a request for General Christopher Pike, who had befriended Sarek over the past view months, to come visit with Sarek, to make sure he was fine. But Pike had become very busy while planning for Nor’vra’s visit, and so Pike didn’t have the time to come to Paris to visit.

And now the day had come. The Romulan visit was to take place in roughly two-Earth hours, and she and Sarek would soon be leaving their residence to board the transport shuttle that would take them to San Francisco.

The door to Sarek’s room opened and Sovor came out. The Vulcan doctor walked out on to the balcony. His eyes, his android eyes, were transmitting what he saw, and his artificial ears were recording everything they heard, and both the visual and audio signals were being transmitted, via a high end scrambled signal, to John Gill’s underground lair, where Roger Corby, under the supervision of John Kill, was controlling both the Sarek and Sovor androids.

“Is my husband ready to go?” Amanda asked. “We’re supposed to leave very soon.”

[Tell her that Sarek wants her to remain there] Corby commanded.

“Actually,” Sovor said, upon receiving Corby’s command, “Sarek has asked for me to inform you that he wishes you to remain here, in Paris.”

“Why?” Amanda countered. “I always attend him on matters of state, such as these. He is my husband. It would not be logical for me to remain here.”

[Tell her that he doesn’t want her to worry about his condition, and to do what he asks] Corby added.]

“Madam,” Sovor said to her, “he does not want you be worried about his condition, and to obey his wishes, and remain here. Amanda, Sarek wants you to do this.”

“I’m suppose to be worried about him,” Amanda said to Sovor, “like I just told you, I am his wife.”
--
John Gill stood in the control room of his underground lair, right next to where Corby was controlling the androids.

“We do not have time for this,” Gill said to Corby. “Have them kill her, and then hide the body.”

Suddenly, Sarek came out of his room and out to the balcony as well.

“Sarek, my husband,” Amanda said to him, “why am I not to come with you?”

Sarek came over to Amanda, and as she looked at Sarek and smiled, Sarek grabbed her by the neck and began to choke her, forcing her to the ground.

“Sar…ek…” Amanda tried to say, choking as she did, “what..a…r…are…..you doing!!!”

And then Amanda’s neck snapped; and she was dead.

Not one, but two Ding-Dong wrappers arced up and towards a small trash-bag which was located nearly ten feet from where the two shooters sat. In the background the thrashings sound of song by the rock group Korn blared. And as the two Ding-Dong wrappers descended towards the can, the two men who were the shooters watched with baited breath, each cheering for their Ding-Dong wrapper to be the one that landed inside the can.

Galactic Ding-Dongs

Being that they each spent most of their time, in fact, most of their lives, in labs meant that neither one of them was a threat to break any of Michael Jordan’s records. In fact, several wadded up pieces of paper surrounded the area around the can; a sad testimony as to how bad they really were at shooting baskets.

From behind where they sat, and on the massive desk that was also behind them, a third person watched as well; but this person wasn’t in the same room; in fact, this person was watching the two Ding-Dong wrappers fly towards the trash-can from far across the galaxy actually; his name was Commander Montgomery Scott, who was temporarily in command of the crew of the USS ENTERPRISE.

Both of the wrappers landed perfectly in the trash basket, causing a near jubilation for the two men who had tossed them; Reginald Barclay, perhaps the most brilliant man on Earth, and sitting next to him was Martin Castillo, who was challenging Barclay’s ‘most brilliant’ label.

“Are ya two daft?” Scotty asked while looking back at them, via the monitor. “I donna have time for this.”

“Not at all,” Barclay said to Scotty, “you have no idea how incredible that was. We have never, and I mean never, made it at the same time. This is a historic mometn!”

“That was so cool,” Castillo added. He looked up at the security camera. “I wonder if they got it on film?”

“Oh shit, I hope so!” Barclay replied.

“Did’ja contact General Pike?” Scotty asked, looking annoyed. “We are trapped on the oth’a side of the galaxy yan know.”

Suddenly the door to the lab opened and in walked not only General Christopher Pike, but Captain James T Kirk, Ambassador Sarek, Admiral Cartwright and Samuel T. Cogley.

“You did it!” Pike said, excitedly, as he and the others came over to the monitor.

“Keptin Kirk!” Scotty said, just excitedly as Pike, as Kirk came into the view on his monitor in the Delta-Quadrant.

Ten minutes passed very quickly as Scotty updated Kirk, and the others, on the status of the Enterprise crew, and their plight; no ship to get home. He also informed them of Spock’s health crisis to which Sarek had very little to say. Scotty also recognized Samuel Cogley. Kirk also had spent that time updating Scotty.

“What’re ya doing there?” Scotty asked Cogley.

“Do not worry Montgomery,” Cogley assured Scotty, “I am here on another matter entirely separate from yours.”

“And what matter would that be?” Admiral Cartwright asked Cogley.

“By law I can not reveal that information,” Cogley told Cartwright. “But I can assure you that it has no bearing on Commander Scott’s professional standing with Star Fleet.”

Cartwright arched an eyebrow.

The others could only wonder what Cogley was speaking of.

“We’re going to have to speed this up,” Castillo said. “The area of space we are warping to do this is starting to break down.”

“We’ll have to build a bigger transmitter.” Barclay added.

Kirk looked to the screen.

“Scotty,” Kirk said, “we’re losing the signal. I know what I’m about to say seems hollow, seeing as far as you are from home, but you’re going to have to be strong through this, all of you are. Hopefully we can communicate more frequently, and find a way to bring you home; so just keep up hope. Oh, and tell McCoy I will make sure his dog is getting fed.”

“Aye keptin,” Scotty said. “By the way,” Scotty added quickly, “what should we do with Gary Mitchell? He claims he might be able to get us home, but I donna trust him.”

“Well, if he claims to have changed, you might as well see if any of the knowledge he had when he was a God can come in handy.” Kirk said. “But, I would keep him on a tight leash.”

“That is wise, Commander Scotty.” Pike said.

Suddenly the signal went dead, and a few of the hardware devises, which were spread across the large worktable, started to spark and smoke.

“Shit,” Barclay said. He grabbed a small fire-extinguisher, which was on the desk as well, just incase something like this had happened, and sprayed it on the sparking gear.

“How bad?” Kirk asked.

“Bad enough,” Castillo said. “At least three weeks of work just to get back to that point. Most of this stuff we already had, but to find replacements may take a while.”

“I can assure you,” Sarek said, “that the Federation will help in that endeavor.”

“Well, get started.” Pike said to the two scientists. “But thank you for what you did today.” Pike said.

The door opened and a messenger came over to Pike.

As General Pike made his way towards the tarmac to receive acting Romulan Praetor Nor’vra for her official visit, he was in a hurried conversation, via his earpiece, with Admiral Cartwright, who was himself at the Star Fleet tactical control on the other side of the complex.

“Security has apprehended Sarek’s doctor,” Cartwright said, “Ruk has confirmed that he is an android, as has Dr. Daystrom. The unit shut down immediately before we could get any information out of it.”

“No doubt trying to cover their tracks,” Pike said. “We have to find Ambassador Sarek,” Pike added. “Has Star Fleet security informed the Ambassador’s wife at their home in France?”

“I am not sure,” Cartwright replied. “They were informed immediately, but no reports have been made since.”

“Keep me informed,” Pike finished as he approached the tarmac and saw the helicopter containing the Romulan delegation landing.

Montana
Underground lair of John Gill

“Kill them!” Came a loud yell.

“No!” Came an equally loud reply.

Realizing that killing Amanda had violated his very reason for trying to take over the universe with his androids, Roger Corby had successfully taken the real Sarek, and Dr. Sovor, into a room and had barricaded the door. Gill, who was a Corby android as well, was not responding to Corby’s over-ride commands, and now Gill wanted to kill Sarek and Sovor, before escaping, knowing that Star Fleet was no doubt figuring it all out. Corby would not let that happen, if at all possible.

“Why didn’t you tell me about the other android?” Gill demanded from the other side of the barricaded door. “Our plan of universal domination would have worked had that thing not exposed our Sarek!”

“I built Ruk,” Corby replied, “a long time ago. When he escaped my lab, I knew it was because he wanted to live. He was the first of my androids to really show that basic drive that all sentient life forms have; the drive to live. I eliminated some of his memory patterns, but I couldn’t deactivate him. So, I let him go out into the world pretty much as a child.”

Corby looked back to Sarek.

“Ambassador, I am truly sorry about your wife. After I am confident that you and Dr. Sovor are both safe, I will pay for my crime.”

There was no reply from Sarek. His wife had been murdered by his android duplicate, and all Sarek could do at the time was watch.

Suddenly the sound of bullets came from the other side of the door as the John Gill android started to force his way into the barricaded room.

“What are you doing?” Corby demanded.

“I also have an ambition,” Gill replied as he paused shooting for a moment, “and that ambition is to rule this world. If I have to kill all of you to attain it, I will!”

Suddenly, from behind Gill, a strange thing happened. It was as though a door opened, a strange swirling door. Stepping out of the door was Mathew-81, Roberta Lincoln, and in front of them, Odo the Founder.

Gill turned, and fired his weapon at the new comers, but Odo absorbed the first volley of bullets. Odo, weakened, fell to the ground, unable to absorb any more bullets. Gill re-aimed his gun at Roberta, but he was too late. As she screamed, Mathew-81 took out a small, metallic cylinder shaped object and aimed it at Gill, as the lunatic android prepared to fire his weapon. The gun never fired as it and Gill were evaporated into nothingness.

Roberta smiled, and ran over and hugged Mathew-81. Odo, slowly regaining his strength, stood up. Mathew-81 walked over to the door.

“Ambassador, you can come out now.” Mathew-81 said.

The door opened, and a hesitant Roger Corby, as well as Sarek and Sovor, came out of the room, having just her the commotion seconds ago.

“Where is Gill?” Corby asked.

“I had to destroy him,” Mathew-81 said. “It was the only way. You are one of the last of your kind.”

“Corby is an android?” Sovor asked.

“Of course,” Sarek said, realizing the logic of the situation.

Corby nodded his head.

“Yes,” Corby told them all. “My real self died years ago in an accident in my lab. Ruk actually built the android, and helped keep me alive until I could transfer my memories to the android. That is why I let him escape when he decided to go out into the world and find his own way. I owed him that much. And no,” Corby said to Mathew-81, “Ruk is now the last of my kind.”

Corby, still holding his own gun, placed it to his head and shot himself in the head, and collapsed to the floor.

“Oh my god!” Roberta said, shocked at what she saw. “He just shot himself.”

“Suicide,” Mathew-81 said, “a purely human act.”

“He said he would pay for the crime of killing the Ambassador’s wife,” Sovor said calmly, “this must have been his intention all along.”

“You are a Founder, am I right?” Sarek asked of Odo. “We have heard of your kind.”

“I am indeed,” Odo replied....

Diplomatic Complex

Previously;
Amanda, who was Ambassador Sarek’s wife, had discovered that what she thought was her husband was really an android duplicate. The fraudulent Sarek choked her, in their home, and snapped her neck. The sudden attack upon her life also caused her son Spock, who is lost on the far side of the galaxy, to fall to the ground as well, and he too faced sudden death.

Later, after the fake Sarek had left he was later exposed to be an android by another android named Ruk. Federation/Earth security was informed that the android Sarek could pose a threat to Amanda.

--

The massive complex, which housed the Federation diplomatic core and their families, was now besieged by Federation and Star Fleet security. Moments after being informed that Ambassador Sarek had been missing, and had been replaced by an android duplicate, a response team was sent to Sarek's private residence.

As it was, each member world in the Federation was responsible for criminal investigations that involved Federation matters on their world. To that end, UN President, Harsha Jadhav, who was also Earth's Ambassador to the Federation, polled the member nations of the Earth as to who would best fill that roll. Several candidates were offered, but a vote among Earth’s own police chiefs, who had gathered at a special conference, left no doubt who the chief of Earth’s criminal investigation team would be; his name was Steve McGarrett. He was the no-non-sense police detective from one of America’s states, and now he was tasked with upholding the values of Earth, while also beholden to the new regulations of the Federation.

Sarek’s wife, Amanda, was found inside one of the bedroom closets in the home she shared with the Ambassador. And although her neck had been snapped, she was still alive, though barely. In fact, the first responding medical doctor could not understand how it was she had survived.

The security team, which had responded as well, almost fired upon the real Sarek as he, along with Mathew-81 and Roberta Lincoln, Odo, and the real Dr. Sovor came out of the strange tunnel of energy that suddenly appeared.

Sarek, immediately, upon seeing Amanda on a stretcher, attempted to run to his fallen wife's side. McGarrett held Sarek back. Sovor went to her side and used a medical device to check on her condition.

"Please sir," McGarrett told the Vulcan, "Your wife is still alive. Try to refrain from exciting her. Please let your doctor look her over first."

"Thank you," Sarek said to McGarrett, "however, I need join with my wife's mind. It is our way when death is near."

“Sarek,” Sovor said, “she is already in a mind-meld.”

“What do you mean?” Sarek asked. “How can that be?”

“I do not know,” Sovor said, “however, the scan is conclusive.”

"I know your wife is Romulan, but isn't she really human?" Roberta Lincoln asked of Sarek. “How can she even be in a mind-meld?” Robert continued, not knowing much of the procedure.

"True," Sarek said to her, "however, her mind has been trained in our ways as well. I know it may not sound logical to you, however, I must insist you allow me to do this. I assure you, I am not in a mind-meld with her as of yet. Though, I am very interested with finding out who is.”

"Sarek," Mathew-81 said to Sarek, "I can help here. She may not die, so please let me try."

"It will only take me a moment to do this," Sarek told him. "If you were to fail, and I had not touched her mind, I would be lost forever, and so would she."

McGarret let Sarek go, not really knowing what Sarek meant by that last comment.

"Alright," McGarrett said to Sarek. "But if you do make contact with her mind, and she tells you any that may pertain to this investigation, I expect you to tell me."

"A quite logical request," Sarek said.

As Sarek walked over to Amanda and placed his fingers on the side of Amanda's head, initiating a mind-meld, McGarrett was handed a com-device which had Admiral Cartwright on the other end. Cartwright proceeded to update McGarrett on what had happened in San Francisco. (last episode).

McGarrett then turned his attention towards Mathew-81, Roberta Lincoln, and the strange looking, and even more quiet, Odo.

“Now,” McGarrett said to the two of them, “who exactly are you and, if you don’t mind my asking, what are you doing here on my world?”

“How typical of a human.” Odo said softly. “Taking ownership of a world that is not even his to own.”

McGarrett was about to respond to Odo when Robert Lincoln suddenly spoke.

“We’re from outer-space.” Roberta said, accenting her words with very deliberate nods of her head.

McGarrett shook his head in disbelief.

“I never would have known.” McGarrett said with a smile and sarcasm.

Earth
Star Fleet Command
San Francisco

As General Christopher Pike escorted the acting Romulan Praetor Nor’vra around the massive Star Fleet complex, he couldn’t keep his mind off what might have been happening with Sarek. A brief message, delivered by one of Admiral Cartwright’s assistants, was all Pike had to go on. Sarek had apparently showed up in Paris France, alive and well, and with the help of a stranger, had helped revive Amanda, Sarek’s wife, who was found near death; the victim of an assault by an android version of Sarek. Although Pike wanted to find out more of what had happened in France, he could not leave his duty as escort to the Romulan Praetor; the attractive Romulan female named Nor’vra.

General Pike, when he was just a young boy, had always had a crush on the female comic-book superhero Wonder Woman. What boy didn’t? He also had a crush on another TV female hero named Xena. Even though the television program was now over sixty years old, Xena was still a very attractive memory in his mind. And that is what Nor’vra reminded Pike of; a cross between Wonder Woman and Xena. Her strength, and yet her feminine beauty, made a formidable pairing. Her four male Romulan escorts, Pike could somehow tell, were more than just her advisor. Or was his imagination getting the better of him?

“This command complex,” Nor’vra said, “is quite impressive. Though, I find the lack of any orbiting weapons platforms in orbit of Earth quite worrisome. We will have to do something about that.”

Pike was jolted back to reality by Nor’vra’s sudden words.

“Thank you,” General Pike. “The complex was built, pretty much, in one month. The Federation provided the resources, and we are quite impressed, as well, how it turned out. As for having weapons platforms in orbit, we have considered it but, as of yet, we haven’t decided. President Jadhav is weighing all the options.”

“Only a fool waits for a fight,” Nor’vra. “But, be that as it may, this is your world.”

“We are still finishing the command complex here,” Pike added. “Once we are done, we will look to augmenting our defences.”

“Our late Praetor had the same task,” Nor’vra said to Pike. “When we arrived on Earth, the will of the Romulan people, and the leader ship of Curio, our late Praetor, rebuilt the island you and your people so graciously let us settle on, after the destruction of our world.”

“I have not had the time to visit Mn’aeha,” Pike said to her, “perhaps, one day, I shall.”

“Make no mistake,” Nor’vra replied with little emotion, “we only consider Mn’aeha an echo of our world, Romulus; not nearly as profound, nor as beautiful.”

“I understand,” Pike offered.

“I doubt it,” Nor’vra added quickly as they both walked side by side. “We are saddened at the lack of any true architectural advancement since our ancestors were taken from Earth two-thousand years ago.”

“I don’t know about that,” Pike said, finding it strange that he was not only giving the Romulans a tour but defending Earth as well in the process. Nor’vra lacked any decorum, and that worried Pike. “I believe Earth has many treasures, and I hope someday you will come to see that as well.”

“The Romulan fleet at my disposal,” Nor’vra said, “could decimate Earth’s defenses in a matter of minutes.” Nor’vra’s arrogant colors were showing through her beauty. “I believe you should allow my military advisors, and myself, to be charged with protecting this world that is full of, how did you say it,” she forced a smile, “treasures.”

“We have both, Earthlings and Romulans, joined the Federation.” Pike reminded her. “If you wish to sit on the defense board with me, I can arrange it. Beyond that, I’m afraid those Romulan ships of yours will, as per our agreement, stay outside the orbit of the moon until it is later decided what can and can not be done with them.”

“As you wish,” Nor’vra said, again smiling as she spoke. “I believe you will see it in another light, eventually.”

For whatever reason, Pike concluded, she was not mincing her words, and that too worried Pike. There was a strong aura of confidence to her words as if she was already planning to take over Earth. It was a foolish thought, if she had it, Pike concluded; for now.

The tour continued, and went inside of the massive medical and science compound.
