Well, how broad is the term science fiction? cause science can potentially be pretty fantastic. I don't even see Star Wars as fantasy.

I've always been interested in all three. I've been watching Star Trek and reading science fiction books since I was a child, and science and math were my best subjects in school.

This. I have dim memories of begging to stay home on a Friday night to watch Star Trek. (It must have been 3rd season.) One of the first books I remember buying through the Scholastic book program at school was a collection of Arthur C. Clarke stories (The Haunted Spacesuit and Other Stories -- I still have it!). And I've always loved learning about science, from popular books like A Brief History of Time to TV programs like Nova.

I'm interested in all three. Star Trek is my main SF love, but I generally like the genre as a whole.

I could also say that Star Trek mainly has helped me become more literate in real science and understand more of it. I'm fascinated by the way in which Trek has drawn from and at the same time inspired real science. A lot of the gadgets that we now use are relative replicas of what we saw in TOS or TNG, and that is quite impressive to me.

Star Trek is the only sci fi TV show I've ever gotten into, but I read a lot of sci fi books and enjoy some sci fi movies.

As for real science, I have taken a good bit of biology and chemistry in college, but have virtually no ability to understand physics. I am interested in astronomy, but on a layman's level. I enjoy stargazing and learning about our universe, but I can't even begin to understand all of the complex mathematical equations that go into figuring this stuff out.

I consider myself a star trek fan first and foremost, I like other sci-fi shows but nowhere near the extent that I like star trek. As for real science, I did a degree, masters and am just finishing up a PhD In the biological sciences field. In education Science was always the logical path for me as it was what I was best at and eventually I found a field that I felt passionate to some degree (genetics/molecular biology) and studied that during my degree, masters and PhD. I never liked physics that much and dropped it after it was no longer compulsory. I am interested in astronomy but now lack the physics background to really get into it. However I'd say I'm more passionate about star trek than real science!
