Star Trek Pumpkins...

ThePumpkinGeek

Hi everyone! I am a huge TNG fan and have been on a few Trek forums and just found this one! I do carvings on artifical pumpkins (NOT soliciting business, just sharing) and was fortunate enough to be a vendor at the convention in August. Got to meet Zachary Quinto, Johnathon Frakes and many other actors! Here's an example of what I do:

Anyway, always looking for other Trek fans for research and feedback so you'll see me hear from time to time! Feel free to check out my site (MANY Trek carves and some of the actors as well!)...

If you're trying to drum up business *coughreadtheFAQscoughcough*, should we be concerned that all your sample images are Photoshopped?

I'll take that as a compliment regarding my work, but, no, not looking for more business...I hand carve each one and here's another pic that might clear up the photoshop question (Zachary Quinto actually purchased it and has requested more of my work)...Lighting isn't the best, but you get an idea.

Simply posting because this was a Fan Art forum and I thought I'd share...If I have brokern the rules, I will discountinue posting my work...sorry!

Welcome to the board, The PumpkinGeek! Nice work! I'm always amazed by what some people can do with an innocent gourd! :D Feel free to post your work here; we're always happy to see more variety and talent. You haven't broken any rules; the board just has to have definite restrictions on soliciting goods and services.

Feel free to post some works in progress, as well - I'm sure I'm not the only one curious how you achieve the gradation of tones from what seems to be essentially a binary process.

Thanks for the welcome, Ptrope...appreciate it. I think I'll tread lightly given my 1st encounter being a bit hostile. Certainly am not here to solicit for biz, just know fans like to see unique work and hear about meeting the actors. NEVER thought that some of the actors would want to meet ME because of what I do...was quite a thrill (again, the site has pics of the Vegas event). I always am on the lookout for forums to increase my Trek knowledge because I try to immerse myself in what I do...

Although I take the "photoshop" comment by Malakai as a compliment, I can tell it was meant to be a slam on me and questioning my artistic abilities an integrity of my pics.

Anyway, I do appreciate you saying everything is fine...given that 1st impressions are the most important when getting involved somewhere, I may simply "lurk" the forums for now...
