Re: Star Trek ~ Project: Potemkin "Ladies Night Out" S03-I NOW ON-LIN

**Spoilers**

I guess it turned out to be sort of a depressing wake instead of a "ladies' night out"? You can tell it was going to be a great evening when the Star Fleet Officer jerks took the ladies' table. Not even a word from them. (At least the gals wound up with a better table). I thought the remark that the Klingon owner burned down a few of his previous establishments with his over enthusiastic celebrations was pretty funny.

The episode reminded me a little bit of the B5 episode, "Day of the Dead". Interesting concept.

I could use a Romulan Ale about now.

I watched it in HD on YT and then went over to the Vimo link, I have to say V still has the better Video Quality :)

Re: Star Trek ~ Project: Potemkin "Ladies Night Out" S03-I NOW ON-LIN

Thanks for the comments, Zaminhon! It was definitely a challenge to bring the concept to the monitor, but it's one we rather enjoyed. We had many folks from many different productions (Starship Farragut, Star Trek Reliant, Dreadnought Dominion, Phase 2) as well as the Republic, the local Star Trek Starfleet club, making appearances and helping behind the scenes. All in all, we had fun, and that's what we like to do.

Romdoll, the compression on Vimeo is better, and we're actually uploading a revision to the video to Vimeo which corrects a very minor flaw we caught this afternoon.

It looked like a lot of fun .. and you didn't have to move very far for the wrap party. ;).

One question, there was a side shot of Tyler in the mirror in the lounge, was there some significance to that?

Re: Star Trek ~ Project: Potemkin "Ladies Night Out" S03-I NOW ON-LIN

SPOILERY:

We filmed several shots with the mirrors in the hallway outside the lounge to indicate that Tyler Landon was slipping between the two realities: one where Lt. Zorla (the Andorian) had died, one where Lt. Seren (the Simian science officer) had died.

A few other things:
  • Ensign Ava (the Romulan spy) had died two episodes earlier, so when Tyler sees her, she reaches for her phaser -- which of course she doesn't have.
  • The officers at the captain's table are positioned one way in one reality, and another way in the other.
  • The two Starfleet command officers get the ladies' table in one reality. In the other, they keep the table and two Starfleet medical officers are at the table they had to move to.
  • At the end when the two dead officers board the Barge of the Dead / enter the lights, the good one walks one direction, and the evil one walks another.

And yeah, it was great fun. We always have a good time filming. :)

Randell, greatly improved audio! Congratulations. The make-up seen at the 2:00 mark is really good (alien face.) The Vulcan ears need a lot of work. Not easy, I know. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Star Trek ~ Project: Potemkin "Ladies Night Out" S03-I NOW ON-LIN

Yeah, we noticed that the person responsible for putting T'Noshi's ears on did NOT know what they were doing after we'd already started filming. Christin Woods has very very tiny ears, and ordinarily we clip only a dime-sized piece of the tip of the latex ears off and use that. Didn't happen this time; I was busy working on the Simian makeup. I think the makeup artist just slipped the latex ears over her entire ear, and so they began to droop. Of course, we could always blame it on the effects of alcohol on Vulcans. :)

The improvement on the sound has been the result of the TASCAM DR-40. We're having very good results with it. Thanks for noticing!

I helped Christin do the touch up (line of demarcation) Hair placement for her ears, and helped her with her eyebrows check. Something that can help Christin in the future would be for her to pull some of her Thick side hair Up off the side of her face, her hair is so heavy that it pulls on her ears! If she pulled some of her hair up off her ears, it would stop the ear tips sliding. (She would still have plenty of hair to pull in front of her ears so that it falls in the middle. We need to get a Plaster cast of her ears, and pour latex ears for her when the budget would allow.

Re: Star Trek ~ Project: Potemkin "Ladies Night Out" S03-I NOW ON-LIN

No, about half of the table shots, and both top brass scenes were from the Tascam.
