Star Trek Prequel Comic - Countdown

EJD1984

Captain
Captain
There's been a promo picture of the prequel comic Countdown released.

Personal Opinion - From the looks of the cover - Have they found a way to bring Data back to life! :) If so, is this a result of the rumored "corrupted" timeline?

Well it is possible that the the story is before Nemesis and Nero is only able to escape from what ever prison he was in and execute his revenge plan after Nemesis.

Sure is a grumpy looking group.
Is that supposed to be Nero in the top left corner?

Of course! That's what this new movie is about! They're going to change the timeline so that that horrible piece of shit movie Nemesis never happened. Brilliant!!!

Seriously though...the whole reason Spiner wanted out was because he didn't think that as he got older, playing Data would be believable. But in comics he'll never age, so obviously they found a way to bring him back. And why not? All four TNG movies focused on Picard and Data to the exclusion of all the other characters, so why not the comics?

I read a while ago that the movie picks up after the events in Nemesis.

"has confirmed that the film starts in the post Star Trek Nemesis timeframe"

The film may start in the post-Nemesis timeframe but that doesn't preclude the comic book from taking place at any point in the TNG-era. For all we know the book could largely be a biography of Nero from youth to Nemesis.

Also, that might not be Data but B-4. Maybe B-4 has only some of Data's memories, but has started becoming a functionally independent being in his own right, so he goes to Starfleet Academy and becomes a commissioned officer.

Interesting looks pretty cool. I cant help but being a little sad though that they didn't make this as part of the movie. Would have been cool to see the TNG characters for one last time on the big screen.

Oh, it won't be the last. I expect a TNG reboot in, say, 2019.

Cool picture and cool to see Picard deal with Nero.

This might be our first glimps of what Old Spock will look like in the film.

Since the rank pins have been conveniently omitted, that might not be Data.

It could also be another clone of Soong. Note the dark eyebrows and non-specific eye color. After all, could an Arik Soong or Noonien Soong clone have been working for the Romulans all this time, creating Sela for Yar's Romulan captor, and Shinzon also? Perhaps Nero actually is going back to wipe out Kirk because if he never encounters Khan, then Khan and his supermen would have made it successfully to Romulus? Can't wait for the comic to figure out what Orci and the gang have created for post-TNG backstory...

but Data's hero Holmes would say that the most likely answer would be the most simple. My money's on Data.
