Star Trek Podcasting

Greetings, fellow Trek fans! Over the past year or so, I've become a fan of Star Trek podcasts, particularly Trekcast. Since I consider myself well versed in the Trek universe (having seen every episode and movie several times) and have been considering starting my own podcast. While I have an idea as the the basic format, I am trying to come up with unique and interesting things to do. Therefore, I've decided to go right to the source: what discussions, debates, etc. do you folks think I should have in my podcast? Any intelligent input will be very helpful...

I say go for it! I've been listening to Trekcast since the first episode. To me the best part of Trekcast is that the format of the show is very inviting. It feels like you're sitting around with friends discussing Trek. That's what does it for me. That and it doesn't feel too "nerdy".

Mak sure you post a link when you get things together. Cheers!

I say go the Studs Terkel route.

To me, the best thing about Trek is the sense of history and community. I'd like to hear interviews with regular fans, talking about con experiences, what Trek has meant to them, the friendships it has helped create, fun stories, etc.

Hearing regular people talk about how Trek has impacted them is more interesting to me that hearing Marina Sirtis talk about it.

Great tips. Thanks! I've listened to many of the Trek podcasts out there and I want to avoid being repetitive, and I also don't want to get bogged down only discussing one series in particular. At first I was thinking about going over all of the episodes in order (TOS, Films, TNG, DS9, VOY, and finally ENT) but I feel that will be cause the podcast to focus on one show for a long time. Therefore, I was thinking about having general Trek discussions and cover an episode from a different series each week. For example, one week I do the classic Trek vs. Wars debate, and then the week after that we discuss "The Cage" from TOS, the following week we cover "Encounter At Farpoint" from TNG, the next week we cover "Emissary" from DS9, then we cover "Caretaker" from VOY, and then "Broken Bow" from ENT. After that, we have another general Trek discussion, and the next show we cycle through the second episode from each series. I figure cycling through each Trek series will have something for all fans. Let me know what you think of this idea. If anybody in interested or willing to contribute in any way, I will be more then happy to hear from you!
