That's the beauty of it being a book... you are totally free to imagine Maddox being "played" by Brian Brophy! :D

Joking aside, I definitely did, and I definitely think McCormack had him in mind.

Admittedly, I did too, since I hadn't even seen the new actor yet when I read the book.

I happened to read it just days after the Maddox episode aired, so I imagined the current actor.

Ok I have to ask, what is this obbsession with Brian Brophy? I understand he was recast, but I didn't really see where he was irreplaceable or anything, and I was pretty happy with the new actor. It's also not like this is the first time we've ever had an character recast between apperances.

The thread about the matter in the Picard forum basically morphed into a modern day Captain Robau type fad and now everyone's jumping on the bandwagon.

Amazing book! Una knocks it outta the park again.

Hey, it even works beautifully an an audiobook, which isn’t always the case.

Our latest Literary Treks is out, all about The Last Best Hope. Literary Treks 298: Utopia is a Series of Choices, in which Bruce and I interview Una McCormack about the novel. It was a lot of fun talking to her, she's always great! I hope you all enjoy it!

I listened to your podcast with Una and I'm hoping she'll be writing more Star trek books in the future.

Well, in the short term, she has The Autobiography of Kathryn Janeway coming out in July. Looking forward to that one!

Nice podcast. I presume she will be interviewed after the Janeway autobiography comes out?

We're hoping so! We can never promise due to schedules and such, but the invitation will certainly be there.
