"With the help of Tallinn, Picard and the crew infiltrate a gala on the eve of a joint space mission, to protect one of the astronauts they believe to be integral to the restoration of the timeline – Renee Picard. Kore makes a startling discovery about her father’s work." - TrekMovie.com

I love the poster I'm can't wait to see this show and what's going to happen to Renee Picard at the party and Picard and crew will do to stop Q and Adam Soong's plans. Also what Agnes will be doing too will probably throw a wrench in the works to complicate things. That's for sure.

I see this episode is barely 39 minutes. Again, very strange how each episode has gotten shorter.

39? Does that include the "previously on ..." as well? I thought surely this one would be longer. Was hoping the gala would be wrapped up in short order, but that run-time doesn't give me much confidence.

‪‪With the captions on, at 13:42-43 when Tallinn is checking Renée’s texts and sees she’s talking to Q, the caption reads “speaks Romulan,” when Tallinn was swearing in frustration, after Picard mentioned that he thought she might be an ancestor of Laris, but dismissed it because he assumes she’s not Romulan.

Aftet all the recent Orla Brady interviews about it, ‪‪I wonder if this, and her Romulan tech from last week’s episode, are what she meant by the “possible connection” between the characters.

It was a fine episode. I think I'm starting to feel impatient with the LA aspect and miss the space stuff in a Star Trek series. I did appreciate how resourceful Kore (I misspelled it last week thinking it was Cory) was and the pep talk was nice. Also good to see the Doctor again and Jurati continues to be the star if this season. Pill really is killing it.

I'll give it the same as last week, a 7. Things are moving forward, but I'm looking forward to tying all this together, finding out why Q is this antagonistical toward Picard after All Good Things... And the impending repeat of the scene on the Stargazer bridge from the Borg Queen's point of view.

Unfortunately, I keep being dumped out of the app tonight on Roku seconds into the "previously on" segment. And even that (and the pre-program ad) I'm only receiving the audio tonight over a frozen load screen before getting dumped.

I'm surprised that an episode went below 40 minutes, since it would seem to be against the terms to get their California tax credit.

From what I can tell, Picard needs to be a "television series of episodes longer than 40 minutes each of running time, exclusive of commercials, that is produced in California, with a minimum production budget of one million dollars ($1,000,000) per episode." [Source] to qualify for the 20% tax credit. I don't see any exceptions to the episode length requirement in the law. Maybe they have different cut of the episode with a longer previously on segment? I suppose one could write a letter to the California Film Commission to complain, which could cost the production $2 million for each episode that's ineligible.

It was a nice episode. A bit short and without much moving forward storywise though. Personally I want to see them go back to their own time sooner than later, but I'm afraid we'll be sticking in this century right until the end of the season...
