Damn that looks like a lot of fun. I enjoy making up characters on HeroMachine, and it looks like I'd have a field day with this.

I liked seeing the vorta and shapeshifter in SF uniforms but I don't like the race creation tool. I think it takes away some authenticity of the ST universe. Also, sad to have found out that there will be a monthly fee. I was a fan of Guild Wars' pricing method (pay for the game, and expansions, and thats it)

While it is most likely that you will they haven't announced any payment options yet, Champions which is considerably closer to release still hasn't either. Also in the past Cryptic tended to release regular updates for their games up to 2-4 times a year.

Well, considering they say you can also make your own 'new' race - I'd say that's a no. The real question will be - Can you be a 'Captain' for any other 'Star Government/Empire' besides the United Federation of Planets at start?

Considering how many planets there are out there in or near federation territory, the potential for thousands of unseen species is a pretty natural assumption.

That looks pretty cool... and makes sense in the universe since all you have to do is swap out colors and foreheads to make a new species.
