Star Trek on "Family Guy"

It's pretty well known that "Family Guy" and "American Dad" creator Seth McFarlane is a big Star Trek fan. Over on the CNN website, there's an interview with the following tidbit for "Family Guy" Season 7:

MacFarlane: In one episode, Stewie kidnaps the cast of "Star Trek: The Next Generation." They (the original cast members) all came back, reunited to do their voices for us.

I'm hoping he'll be able to do a show on the same level as Futurama's "Where No Fan Has Gone Before".

Awhile back someone suggested that Family Guy do a Wrath of Khan parody along the lines of their Star Wars show last year. Here's how I would assign the characters to the WoK story:

Peter Griffin as Kirk
Lois Griffin as Carol Marcus
Chris Griffin as David Marcus
Meg Griffin as Saavik
Brian as Spock
Stewie as Khan
Cleveland as Capt. Terrell
Quagmire as Chekov

Thoughts? Comments?

they would give Meg a small, demeaning role. I could see her playing the creature that they pull the brain/ear slugs from on Ceti Alpha V.

There was a thread on this over the summer and IIRC this isn't just idle speculation, MacFarlane would really like to do a TWOK parody and there are plans to do one in the future.

Not exactly. Yes, MacFarlane has said he'd like to do a TWOK parody, but he said its contingent on whether Paramount would allow it. The main reason he's able to do Star Wars parodies like Blue Harvest are because George Lucas is remarkably liberal when it comes to this sort of thing. Paramount, unfortunately isn't.

That's it! I had forgot about that part. There are some really good featurettes in the BH DVD where they discuss that and how surprised they were at how willing Lucas was to allow it (and that he's apparently a fan of the show).

They could talk Paramount into re-re-releasing TWOK as a 2pak DVD with the Family guy paradoy in some sort of box set that gives you a link to a youtube video of lost TWOK footage in time fo the release of the new Star Trek movie, I'm sure they'd go for that. :guffaw:

You'd think Seth would know someone at Paramount after appearing on Enterprise twice. Maybe Bermaga could use their influence....

Every time they use Trek they have to get Paramount clearance, like the Stewie/Rupert funeral scene. I would hope they would also give clearance for a full or one hour episode as well.

I don't know about that. I mean, look what happened to Enterprise itself!
