Odyssey's pilot episode, "Iliad" is now complete and we are planning the release. To help with bandwidth, we are doing a tiered release schedule as we have done before with Hidden Frontier. Starting at 7Pm PST on Monday September 17th, we are doing a live event in the Chat Room at:

http://www.hiddenfrontier.com/chat.php

Episode release will be at 8Pm PST and there may be some cast and crew present to answer questions.

The episode will again be made available for download on Wednesday September 19th to registered forum members ONLY. If you haven't had a chance to register for our forums, please do so at:

http://www.hiddenfrontier.com/forums/

There are tons of extras down in the exclusive sneek peek forums that do not appear to guests not logged in. The Sneek Peek Forum is where the episode will be released on Wednesday. The files will continue to be password protected until wide release, which will occur late Friday night and into Saturday September 22nd.

As we get ready for launch and begin using the new H.264 codec for download, we are releasing the Odyssey Preview in full resolution with the new codec. It is available via this link:

The episode will also be screened at Gaylaxicon 2007 in Atlanta, GA on October 7th.

Enjoy!

This is very exciting. I'm so glad the HF crew is still making Trek.

Hey, AREAKT - is there anything technically different you're doing about the production of the new series? Shooting, editing, bluescreen, effects...?

We've made improvements to several areas including a new chroma keyer that has greatly reduced the edge artifacts and green halo of the old keyer. This will also allow us to release in a higher resolution.

We've also upgraded our editing to a new Apple Quad Core and the latest editing tools.

The team has come a long way too, with new costumes, better makeup techniques (bondo anyone?), and more people working on CGI, original episode and theme music scoring, and increased proficiency of everyone in their respective areas.

I hope you guys enjoy our efforts! We have a blast doing this stuff!

Can't wait. I have been dying to see this series since the preview aired back all of those months ago. I just saw what Sean is working on for the other series your doing and I can't wait to see when that ship is finally released to be seen.

Working on the episode has been absolutely fantastic. Everyone of the cast and crew has put there all into making this new story from the HFverse a remarkable production. I'm sure no-one will be disappointed :)

Sounds good -- I've been working my way through the orginal HF episodes, and have been quite impressed. I'm looking foward to ST:O (although I'm gonna finish HF first).

Definitely advised! Many of the story-lines will be carryover arcs from Hidden Frontier. :)

But I should also point out Odyssey will be unique enough that you'll be able to watch the pilot and understand it and its new characters without having watched any Hidden Frontier.

We wanted to make it appeal to people who hadn't or didn't want to sit through 50 episodes of Hidden Frontier. ;-)

You'll definately get a download from me (but I can't make the chat because I have class the next morning :( )

Looks like I'm going to have to join another board. I hope my name hasn't been taken...

I always struggled to get involved with Hidden Frontier, hopefully I will get onboard for this series from the start.

good luck to everyone involved.

It's actually nice to have a series where the starship is stuck in another part of the universe again. I sort of miss that, since it gives you a chance to see how the crew deals w/o having reinforcements when there is a bad situation.

I must thank you super-fantastically for deciding to release the episodes of this series in full-res. It looks SO much better on my TV.

Seriously, the trailer released in H.264 looks great! Gorgeous ship, too. B)

Thanks for the reminder nx1701g, I'd forgotten about it with everything that's been going on lately.
