Star Trek Movies from 1979 to 2016. Domestic Box Office; actual and adjusted for inflation

1. The spectacle of seeing something new seems to be a driving force for all of the highest drawing Trek movies.

TMP: the first ever Star Trek movie.

FC: the debut of the Ent-E & movie debut of the Borg .

ST ’09: Star Trek reboot/relaunch
also
TVH: time travel/present day setting
GEN (sorta?..was notably bigger overseas than VI): TNG big screen/TOS crossover
ID: Sherlock/Star Wars fever (JJ announced as directing VII)

So if I am reading this correctly, amount longer the green/blue would be than the red line is profitability, making the TOS Movies much more profitable than their counterparts?

The budgets aren't adjusted for inflation, so for that point you could only look at the green (the box office take before adjustment).

The TOS films were generally the most profitable, though.
