“The Cardassians have developed a prototype biological torpedo that kills only humans. Our job is to capture it and return it to Starfleet so they can develop a cure for it.” Blackjack blinked three times in disbelief. “Why would Starfleet send you to do this? You’re all Starfleet rejects.”
“Because we’re highly skilled professionals; the best at what we do.”
“And,” added Blackjack, “if you never came back, nobody would miss you.”

Hi. I have just finished uploading my new Star Trek novel online and I would appreciate any constructive feedback.
The novel's main character is Captain Benjamin Maxwell (from the TNG episode "The Wounded").
You can find Maxwell's Misfits at

Thanks for your help! :)

Thank you for doing this!! I always loved Ben Maxwell, and wondered what became of him after "The Wounded". I even had some story ideas of my own, but haven't gotten to them. He's a great character who had great story potential.

You're welcome!;)Captain Benjamin Maxwell turned out to be completely correct and would later be vindicated when the Dominion War began.
I have always wished that the Star Trek franchise had done more story telling about the Maquis. Near the end of the TNG series, they kept teasing us with it, but never really followed through with it very much during DS9, or Voyager, for that matter. So I added a little to it. Captain Maxwell, a natural ally of the Maquis, teams up with three of its members to prevent a cold war from going hot.

Trelane! I'd recognise that cover anywhere!

You could've at least started using a different font and design for your covers when you re-registered after getting banned! That's sheer laziness!

Jason K.S. Hauck contacted me by email and generously offered three different covers for me to choose from. I want to publicly thank him, as I am not a graphic artist. Indeed, Star Trek: Maxwell's Misfits is the first website that I've ever built. If you wish to contact Mr. Hauck, or see any more of his artwork, please go to http://starbase_hellsgate.tripod.com/anthology.html I don't know if he is the "Trelane" that you are looking for.

As much as I thank you for uncovering this, Sandoval, I'd like to point out that hotlinking images isn't allowed under board rules. I therefore changed the pic of the cover to a link.

Here are a list of characters in Maxwell's Misfits:

Disgraced Captain Benjamin Maxwell (from the TNG episode, "The Wounded").
Expelled Cadet Nick Lorcarno (TNG "First Duty").
Thomas Riker (transporter clone of Will Riker).
Ro Laren (TNG 8 episodes)
Blackjack Tigan (original character, convicted Trill Smuggler, sometimes known as "Spots").

Cameos made by -- Admiral McCoy
Scotty
TNG Crew
DS9 Crew

Please stop spamming. It isn't necessary to post three times in a row just to make announcements.

Reading this over, I realise this came out harsher than I intended. Posting multiple times in a row can be seen as spamming according to the board rules (see the FAQ at the top of the page for more) so it's best not to do it. In case you want to respond to several posters there's the mult quote function. If you post a story in here the spamming rule doesn't apply. Sorry if my earlier statement cam off as intimidating.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to make it clear that shane fortune is not a dual of hellsgate/Trelane. I had that checked when the accusation was first made and when the result came back negative I considered the case closed but I realise I also should have said something in here.

Count Zero and others,

If you read through this thread you'll see that my time here has been...shall we say...unfortunate. While I wish you all the best on a personal basis, the fact is, I haven't enjoyed my time here. Between the personal attacks, the slow response to correct them, and the warnings of spamming, perhaps it is best if we parted ways.
Live long and prosper.

Shane Fortune

I'm sorry to hear that but it is a little odd more than two months after the last post in this thread. But I suppose those who want to follow the story know now where to find it and can keep up with it.
