I had never watched Rick and Morty before, but I've just now dug into it just to kind of get an idea of what Lower Decks might be like. Man... I'm really looking forward to it now! This could be really, really good! (Also, big Rick and Morty fan now)

This is meant to be more accessible than Rick and Morty, it won't be as adult as that.

Plus it's only created by one of the people who worked on that now, and not even one of the creators.

    I'm still skittish about it.

I have nothing against having a LITTLE fun. Just hope they don't overdo it.

    Indeed.

If we can be assured that this show will take itself just a little bit seriously, then I guess it's good.

I'm at a point in my life that I wouldn't mind seeing Trek get skewered as thoroughly as a spit roast pig.

I'm really looking forward to this show. Honestly, I think I might even like it more than Picard. I'm like....12 or something though.

An idea I've been mulling lately is to consider the shows to be narrators telling us stories from the future. The stories are essentially true, but the narrators occasionally make mistakes. That can help me accept minor continuity errors. It can also help accept visual disparities -- i.e., the technology looks more advanced in Discovery than TOS because the narrator is telling the story in 2019 instead of 1966.

In the case of Lower Decks, maybe the narrator has a sense of humor. The stories are essentially true, but perhaps the "real" events aren't quite so wacky. I say that, of course, without having any idea just how wacky the show might get.

Apparently Lower Decks is 100% canon.

I suspect fans will debate this for all eternity like they do ST: The Animated Series and the Marvel Universe Netflix and TV shows.

Not that it really matters as long as it's enjoyable, right?

    I'm all behind that.

This is what I am looking for, something enjoyable set in the Trek universe. Star Trek has really fallen behind some other shows that can mix entertaining and serious and tell a good story. I was really stunned by how lethargic Discovery is compared to the Amazon Prime series The Boys and others.

Star Trek is not meant to be enjoyed! Star Trek only has merit when it is canonical and consistent with said canonical structure.

Oh, right. Yeah, I think I see the problem with the franchise now.

Does anyone know if it has been announced or even speculated where or if this series will be aired/streamed in Canada? Google search didn't seem to turn up anything.

Nothing's been announced, but given Space (or CTV Sci-Fi as it's soon to be re-named) is airing all things related to the new Star Trek (Disco, Picard, Short Treks) I will be very surprised if they don't air Lower Decks.
