HOW MANY ANDY'S DOES THIS EPISODE GET?

6

I've only seen it once.

Rewatches may change this, but I wanted a gut result.

I gotta ask... yell.... or scream!

Why Gomez as a legacy character?

She was the worst.

The episode loses 4 points just cause of her.

Then there's the new class ship, it's purdy, and is a lovely homage to one of my favs. Yet this was not enough to get any Andys recovered.
The twist ending was a good cliff hanger! Really came outta left field, again not gaining any Andys back.

What class ship are you referring to? I'm blanking.

Why did they have to destroy another planet?? At this rate, all inhabited planets will be destroyed! I don’t think pre-streaming I heard of more than 3 planets completely destroyed and now after Romulus we have Pakled planet too. Why?? I hope a lot of Payless survived and will find a new home

I recommend watching „The Doomsday Machine“. It‘s a really good episode!

So I just rewatched this episode this week and noticed that the episode title was listed as just "First Contact" and it annoyed me. I guess some intern reviewing the episode listings directory noticed a typo and "fixed" the duplicated word. Anyone else notice this?

Watching tonight to get ready for 3x1 in 2 days.

Question: is the Laap System a play on LLAP, or is it a coincidence?

I remember seeing the clip from way back when with the hull plating; forgot all about it so it all still worked out great. Really great way to get through a plot problem.

Nice season finale twist. Jaw-dropping, rather. Going to be a long wait until the next blu-ray release, but I'm increasingly tempted to renew the subscription to see where they take things with the captain. Haven't seen a great season-ending cliffhanger in decades.

As usual for Trek, power goes out yet in most cases there's almost always life support and always gravity.

As usual for Trek, nobody's traveling around the anomaly or big tachyon net or whatever. At least LD had a good case in that (a) they had a comparatively tighter time crunch, and (b) everyone was spazzed during the emergency. Given the nature of the space rock things, warping could have caused more problems...

Rutherford's repressed memory is right out of Wolverine? Interesting, setting up a new plot thread for later seasons I'd guess.

Excelsior and Sovereign Class ships look too similar... or is that a new class that has attributes of Excelsior and Enterprise?

Captain Gomez. :luvlove:

A great spirited season finale that still has its themes of unity and teamwork in a crisis.

If anything, I still wish these were hour-long as they sometimes feel a bit too fast.

9/10

It struck me that Rutherford's memory of having his implant fitted must be his original implant - but that was ripped out and destroyed in the S1 finale... so if there are hidden "you're our puppet" instructions in him, they must be transferred via his routine backups OR whoever got to him originally was able to suborn his replacement implant too.

I generally liked it, except for the cliffhanger ending. Please no spoilers on how it turns out.

I don't think they got Sonya's appearance quite right. At least not as successfully as they did Riker's, a few episodes back.
