Ok, so here's my idea for a new Trek series.
I call it Star Trek: Legends.
It tells the story of the USS Avalon. The Avalon could be from either the 23rd or 24th century. It ultimately does not matter. On its maiden voyage, the Avalon is thrown back in time several thousand years (perhaps as many as 10,000). It a period of time for which there are few to no records. Many of the space faring races of this era have long ago shifted into the realm of legends. The story could feature a great war/strugle between these ancient races. We'd possibly find out the origin of the Doomsday machine and learn the fate of races like The T'Kon Empire, the Iconians, The Vaudouir, the early role of the Organians and perhaps the origin of the Borg. We might find out about the great barrier or why "God" was imprisoned at the heart of the Galaxy. Perhaps we'd even see a point when the Prophets truly were of Bajor.
The beauty of this story is that you can a large expansive story and create whole new races without having much impact on the rest of Trek. Its about the history that few people in "modern trek" would even know about.
