For those curious as to which IMAX theaters will be showing the first nine minutes of Star Trek Into Darkness, a listing of those theaters is now available. The preview will be seen beginning December 14th, ahead of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Previews will be available in the U.S., Canada, Austria, Australia, Brazil, China, [...]

Just great. I guess I didn't realize it wasn't showing in all IMAX theaters..I thought most reports didn't mention "500 screens". Bought my tickets for the Hobbit and my theater isn't on the list. Honestly wouldn't have paid the premiums if I had known. Really sucks since other lesser attended IMAX theaters near me are showing it. Ugh.

:brickwall:

WTF? Why has New Zealand been shafted? Trinidad & Tobago get a preview but not us? Australia looks covered... could they not toss a copy over the Tasman to us? Ugh. I'm up in Auckland next weekend and had planned to see The Hobbit in IMAX - my first IMAX movie - along with the preview. It was the ray of sunshine on an otherwise obligatory trip I'd rather not take.

JJ... He tasks me! And I will have the preview!

Hm, clicking on the link from the Trek site takes me to an IMAX page which says The Hobbit is at Hoyts Highpoint (Victoria, Australia) IMAX on 14 December, but the Hoyts site says 26 December. I assume it's the latter. Better keep off this site for those two weeks...

Bit disappointing it's not at the Melbourne CBD one, though, since that's a bigger screen.

9 minutes of Star Trek plus 170 minutes of The Hobbit plus ads - my backside will not appreciate this. :(

Then take your rubber ring with you, request an aisle seat and take a few toilet breaks.

I'm sure some people will pay for their ticket and leave after the Trek preview. I saw similar action at the midnight premiere of "Cloverfield".

On the one hand I don't mind missing out on it because I know once I see the 9 minutes it will be an almost unbearable wait to see the rest.

However, I can't bear the thought of my friends seeing it while I, the biggest Trek fan among the group, will be left unaware.

Cloverfield was a movie worth walking out off.

Will there be 2 min trailers in front of IMAX that don't show the 9min footage?
