Star Trek: Headquarter 31

friedebarth

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
I'll post some of my stories soon, but before this I'll just give a basic outline of the plot and setting.

Time: This plays in the 2450s, the year is always our current, actual year (eg. 2008) plus 450 years. Higher Warp factors can be reached at this time experimentally and all technology is higher developed.

Setting: On Starbase XY in the M33 Galaxy, moving around the Galactic core of it with Warp 20, changing quadrant every three years: Taw-Shin-Resh-Qoph-Tsade. In 2458, it is about to change from Qoph to Tsade, it will probably experience difficulties doing this as the quadrant's borders aren't set by Starfleet Cartographers but by energy barriers.
Starbase XY is the Headquarter of Starfleet's Section 31 and has many big futuristic ships to send out and spy which can cloak. Uncloaked they look like some futuristic and enormous version of the old Phoenix (NOT!!! USS Phoenix, but the Zefram Cochrane one). The ships also all have runaways that look exactly like the T'Plana-Hath and Shuttles that look like tiny versions of a D'Kyr.

Plot: The Starbase has contact with many life forms of M33 and discovers many new phenomena. Also, it is the Section 31 HQ, which means firstly that all Section 31 activity is controlled from here and secondly that this power makes many people corrupted and causes some fascinating incidents. So be prepared for some exciting action!

Main Characters:
General Prof. Dr. Dr. Sukkirkh Krkh'ldsgdh'jkl'tzpqw'ghqqg'shdq'xcvbn'm, Vulcan, Head of Section 31
Colonel Kaksituhan N.K. Mentakolme, Konisortesian[1], Head of Department Development&Technology
Brigardier Dr. Luitpold Saccharius Schmidt, Human, Head of Department Attack&Defense
Major Kira Labys, female Bajoran, Head of Department Recruition&Education
Fleet Captain Elbar Ruvton, Human, Head of the Starbase XY Fleet
Master Warrant Corporal Dith'Tal[2] Kuron Noruk, Palindromarian[3], Section 31 Head Envoy

[1]An M33 Race, more in a general description Post
[2]Palindromarian honorous professional title.
[3]Same as [1]

Re: Palindromarian

I am honestly not sure what to make of this - it seems a bit, I dunno, off (?). Super ships, super space station, Section 31, new galaxy - and no information on potential plots, or on the characters?!

Re: Palindromarian

If I'd tell you what exactly the plot was you'd know what will happen and it would be boring. Besides: New galaxy "neutralises" the kinda "powerplay" you have with super ships and a super station. And if you really wanna know: The superships will get destroyed at an incident and the station will face... ...certain problems, one beginning with "B", the other with "u""f""s" and the third with "p""p"

Re: Palindromarian

I guess I'm looking for some details so we've got something to comment on, there's very little there as it stands. The fact it's set years in the future from TNG but the ships all look like huge versions of ships that haven't been used in over three hundred years seems a bit silly - and exactly why does Section 31 have a base in the M33 Galaxy?

Why not just make the base a regular station with a regular Starfleet crew? What's the point in them being Section 31 - or why not set it on an S31 station in the usual 'verse?

Re: Palindromarian

It's simple: Would you put your secret organisations' headquarters into a shopping mall with big signs going: "There's something in here!" or would you rather make it and underground system in the Kalahari desert which nobody knows of?

Re: Palindromarian

It's not like that is it - you're comparison would have suggested sticking the S31 base in an area with no life supporting planets, some sort of expanse where no ships go as there's nothing of interest or importance, no planets even worth mining - or inside some sort of major stellar anomaly such as the Briar Patch.

Or even stuck over in the Delta Quadrant if you're presuming some sort of advancement of warp technology.

Given that, if Starfleet has the capacity to travel the distances to a new galaxy then it makes sense that S31 wouldn't be alone there, that the area would be swarming with ships of various sizes and specifications.

I'm sorry, I just don't see the sense in sticking an S31 base in another galaxy when the story could work just as well, from what we've been told, in the Milky Way.

Re: Palindromarian

Yeah, this one seems a bit far-fetched, even for a Trek adventure. I'd go with a Gamma Quadrant headquarters near the Galactic Center. Accessible via a little-known subspace corridor that's been "officially" deleted from records in the same fashion as the "Omega Directive" sets up an entirely different set of rules. Perhaps the corridor is disguised as being "officially" another race's territory, a race that doesn't actually exist, so no-one would be interested in violating another race's sovereignty to map scientific curiosities in someone else's backyard without an invitation. An asteroid base in an old mining facility that's been long since used-up since the 2160's-2170's, as Section 31 prefers to keep to the shadows. Only a tiny handful of personnel at Starfleet Command were ever told about this subspace corridor since the Borg showed-up, as a possible escape route (should Earth/The Federation ever be assimilated.) They have no idea that Section 31 has already decided to begin a mirror Frankenstein Fleet of their own, without Starfleet's regulations & the threat of inevitable discovery mutually tying their diplomatic hands behind their backs.
