Star Trek DVD release date...is one set?

Captain Craig

Vice Admiral

I didn't see a thread on this and a Google search has me seeing dates from Oct 27 thru Nov 17.

Is there a firm date for the DVD release?

I have my copy pre-oredered and it's being releashed 16 Nov. Looking forward to arriving as I've not seen it yet.

It's being released in Australia on 29 October. People with a JB Hi Fi store near them might notice their free Stack magazine has Trek on the cover, and an interview with JJ inside.

Incidentally, the limited edition sounds interesting:

Its already out in different regions like Russia. Us americans will have to wait till November 17th to buy it.

I keep hearing November 17. Is that tentative, though? Or firmly set by now?

Pre-ordered mine through Columbia House last night. I'm getting the 2-disc DVD.

I would like to move up to Blu-Ray but just can't afford it right now, would have to upgrade the TV as well as the player.

You could always upgrade the player in anticipation of getting a new TV somewhere down the line. I made the shift to BD about a year before I got an HDTV, and my parents are doing the same.

I considered doing exactly that, but I'd trather wait until I can afford a complete system in one hit so I can get the best player, TV and replacement Sound System in one hit.

My thinking is to get the Best Buy exclusive Blu-Ray (with the screen-accurate badges) in anticipation of the Upgrade, but get the 2-disc DVD to last until that point.

Once I upgrade, I'll upgrade the Lord of the Rings and Star Trek movie collections as well.

I dont have a BluRay player right now and dont plan to get one for a good while to come. Just not something i need badly at the moment. So the DVD releases will be more than enough to keep me entertained.
