Star Trek: Defiant episode 24!

Pendant

Episode 24 - "The Far and Wondrous Distance, part 2"[/b]

Otek and Kendrick are out to rescue Emeras, and if that means getting their hands on Mnet, so much the better. Keahi flies solo and Emeras meets the Mothe Astra.

Thanks for listening!

Thank you for another exciting episode!

My nitpicks:

1) the children at the beginning- I can maybe believe a child of a spacefaring culture, even during the occupation, making up a moon that can't be found because it has an "erratic orbit", but saying it's "out of phase" is just too much. Either tiny Bajoran children under Cardassian occupation are taught temporal mechanics, or these kids watch too much Star Trek.

2) "...Space, the Final Frontier..." belongs to TOS and TNG ONLY. You should make up an original opening to your show that doesn't mirror theirs. Sounds silly.

3) This is totally a matter of personal taste, and I've said it before, I hate your corny 20th century music choices. "Somewhere over the Rainbow" was bad, but to go straight from that to the ultimate in cornyness, the woefully overused Louie Armstrong version of "What a Wonderful World"- guh! It was cute when used at the end of the TV movie version of "Hitchhyker's Guide to the Galaxy" a couple decades ago, but every time since has been unbearably corny.

4) The Hawaiian girl. It's very cool that there's a Hawaiian character, something we haven't had on Trek, being played by a real Hawaiian girl, and the language is very beautiful sounding, but it's really annoying and pointless to have her keep saying words in Hawaiian, then explaining what she just said. Wouldn't the ubiquitous universal translators just turn her Hawaiian outbursts to English? Remember, we almost never heard Checkov speak Russian, Spock speak Vulcan, or Scotty speak Scottish.

5) On a positive note, your technical abilities continue to improve. You're sounding more and more professional every episode.

One last thing. I've listened to every episode as it came out, and I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but half the time during this ep I didn't know what was going on, who was speaking, or what species they were. It would be really helpful to have a "...our story so far..." thing with each episode, and some character bios on your site.

That last one I've requested after every episode, but I get the impression that no one from the Defiant production team ever checks back after posting these releases. Right?

Anyway, thanks again, I really do enjoy the series, despite my critiques.
