Star Trek: Deception - A Fan Film

Hello there everyone!
I would like to show off a new project that I'm currently working on called Star Trek: Deception, which is a short fan film based in the Star Trek universe.

STD is a short fan-film being created by a group of friends whom all have one thing in common, a love of science fiction, namely Star Trek. Our backgrounds vary between us, some are into acting, others audio, and some are into visual effects, but together we have pooled our resources to create something we have all dreamed of but never thought possible, creating a Star Trek fan-film that we can all be proud of!

Star Trek: Deception on Facebook!

You can still help us out by 'liking' our Facebook page, which is constantly updated with news about the project and behind-the-scenes photos.

Star Trek: Deception Homepage!

For more information you can visit us on our main website :)

Thanks again! :D

Haha! A Next Generation fan film! Cool!

I love how you're keeping it simple and setting it in one small location with a couple actors.

looks like a really cool idea. actually its the first new fan film idea on here for a while that doesn't seem to be built around fanwanky continuity nods. so good luck!

Hello there! Thanks for your interest in our project! :)

We thought it was best to go with a smaller project for our first Star Trek film with a tighter story and focus only on a couple of characters and how they develop, rather than a mushy feature length epic with hundreds of characters :D

Thanks again! Spread the word! :)

We would like to welcome on board classical composer and audio engineer, Cory S.Watterson, who will be giving Deception its epic soundtrack!

From the FAQ:
Soliciting
Do not attempt to solicit other BBS members: posting to sell or endorse a product or web site will not be permitted.

It is forbidden. The mods delete the links. You're basically not allowed to advertise anything that asks for money here.
Obviously not, since the link in the OP is still there.

Try again?

Fundraise all you want through whatever means you want.

Please don't announce those fundraising efforts in forum posts, and please don't solicit in forum posts. (If you want to get people to donate to your efforts, you can purchase advertisement on TrekBBS.)

(Posts have now been edited judiciously throughout this thread by the Moderator.)

How strange.

Star Trek: Deception isn't my project, and I'm not involved in it in any way. I do find it strange, however, that they're being singled out in this way when there's another active thread with an advertisement for Kickstarter right next door in the forum.

Is this one of those things that's not a problem until somebody "tattles"? It might be a good idea to get some sort of ruling just so future projects know whether or not they can post links to their fundraising sites, whatever they may be.

Well, it's actually the forum's policy whether someone "tattles" or not. The "ruling" for future projects can be found in our forum FAQ:

"Soliciting

Do not attempt to solicit other BBS members: posting to sell or endorse a product or web site will not be permitted."

Sometimes (often?) these slip by the Moderators. We act when we notice--or when people bring it to our attention.

Since it seems a point of contention, all references that I could find to fundraising initiatives have now been removed globally from the Fan Production board--no matter how long ago those campaigns expired.

But, of course, you can still buy advertisements.
